Saturday, 7:00 at the Target Center
vs Mavericks

Records:

Minnesota - 1-0, Dallas - 0-1

Will Dirk wink at me?  Will a team of Mavericks lose by over 10 points in Minnesota today? On Tuesday?  Will K-Love get more than 20 minutes of burn?  Will Our Beloved Puppies shoot more than 15 three point shots in a game?  Will Sweetwater Jones once again grace our teevee screens?  Will Randy Foye play significant minutes in the 4th quarter?  Does 23% of this collection of Texans think that Barack Obama is a secret Muslim?  Will the calm demeanor of Dwayne Casey finally snap and will he take a swing at Kevin McHale?  Will David Hasselhoff be in attendance?

The answers to these and many other questions will be answered tonight, at 7 PM against the feared Dallas Mavs.  Dallas is coming off a tough loss against Houston.

You can read all about things from a Mavs fan's perspective over at our sister site, Mavs Moneyball.

You can let us know your thoughts on the matter in the comments section below.  This game is the first part of the Wolves' first back-to-back of the season.  Tomorrow night they travel to OKC to play the Thunder.   While you're waiting for all the fun to begin you can take the time to read this study from the Journal of Quantitative Analysis in Sports about the performance of NBA teams on the tail-end of a back-to-back.  As you may remember, the Wolves have a league-leading 11 back-to-backs scheduled. You don't want to call the 2nd game a "must win", but it is essential that they pick off  low-hanging fruit like OKC if they are going to make their win goals for the season.

Until later.

The Wolves passing

is far and away the most improved aspect of their game this season.

Gomes is not having a good game...

…he’s not a good matchup against the Mavs. If Love doesn’t get the majority of burn in the 4th, Witt’s head isn’t attached.

This game...

…is a text-book example of the problems with +/- numbers. Randy Foye is doing absolutely nothing for the squad and he is getting the benefit of being out there with the rest of the starters.

BTW: The Wolves are killing at the line.

This game...

…is problematic. Foye will never be a point and Witt will never be a winning coach. The rotations here have been terrible and yet the game is close. This team is a 1 away from being dangerous.

Quick thought...

One of the biggest differences in the game was the three-point shooting. We went 1-12 while the Mavs went 5-16. If we’re going to shoot 8.3% from beyond the arc, we need to cut down on those shots.

Free throws were better, but it wasn’t a good game at all.

by Twins Territory on Nov 1, 2008 10:16 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Yet they were still in it.....

…until the end. it’s a much different feel than last year. They need to continue to shoot the 3. I think Witt has psyched them out of taking the long shot.

I agree

That’s the reason I thought this was the big difference. With that poor of shooting we still found ourselves in the game when the fourth rolled around.

I saw the 76ers blew a 22-point lead. Reminds me of last season…
