Some Quick Monday Evening Armchair GM Thoughts

1.  Someone needs to tell Randy Wittman that his career depends upon giving players development time, not playing to win.  I'd rather have Brewer and Love see more playing time a lose a few then have them unprepared for next season.

2.  I'm not big fan of trading Miller, but if, if the Wolves feel it's necessary, I would look to Denver.  They have a trade exception big enough to fit him, and I think he'd make a killer backcourt with Billups, especially with J.R. Smith doing a faceplant out of the gate.  Get the exception and a pick.

3.  Make that a pick for a year a two.  Instead of having a glut of picks in a single year, from now on the Wolves should concentrate on having 2 picks (theirs plus another) every year.  That would give them youth and flexibility moving forward.  If that means swapping a pick this year for one next year, so be it.

4.  Trade the Celtics pick and Smith for Joakim Noah.  Noah is probably at what's going to be the low point of his career, and if he stays like this for two more weeks, the Wolves might be in with a chance.

5.  If you get the trade exception for Miller, and get Noah, then even with two picks in the draft the Wolves should still be able to put together a package to pull Childress out of Greece.  And this includes keeping McCants.

6.  Next year the Wolves would have a rotation of 1. Foye/Telfair  2. McCants/Brewer 3. Childress/Gomes 4. Love/Jefferson 5. Noah  plus a lottery pick and (probably) Miami's pick.  That's as good as you can ask for in youthful talent.

7.  That said, two things to note.  First, if Minnesota had insisted on simply getting Miami's pick for the last lottery, they could have Love, Mayo, and Chalmers right now.  And second:  none of the above will happen with McHale in charge.
