Listen at the link. I'll post the podcasts of the pressers and interviews in a later post.

Apparently at the press conference...
… when Taylor was asked who answers the phone when other teams call about trades, Taylor said “Jim Stack”
Interesting.
he just said the exact same thing on the show.
As you said, interesting.

wow the Chad guy had some good questions...
…how about the non-answer to the question about whether he’d have fired McHale outright if he hadn’t accepted the position as coach?
I can’t say that interview made me feel all that confident about the managerial direction of the team. Ugh.
Nope...
…it’s the same country club.

Taylor did..
…go back and back again to the idea of a trade happening and how it would work with this group. That was interesting. Hartman made the money point: they just gave McHale more power. If he’s coach and he still has a direct line to the top…well, it’s par for the course and this is nuts.

more power, but with it comes more accountability, which is exactly what he lacked…

Good point..
…it also comes with a much easier barometer of success/failure.

Exactly
Now McHale will absolutely be held accountable. If this group doesn’t get it together, McHale is gone at the end of the season and Taylor brings in a new coach and assigns someone the GM role. I disagree with Hartman, who obviously thinks McHale should be gone, Taylor’s decision is a smart one and he’ll save a bundle of money from it. Poor Dick below is right on the money in his comment below.
What's he going to say?
“This is the best-case scenario. Either McHale actually coaches the team back towards .500, or he stinks on the bench just as much as he does in the front office and I can finally can his can without having to pay two more salaries. AND we sit prettier in the Ricky Rubio sweepstakes.”
Did Taylor hint...
…at what kind of trade they’re considering? I know he can’t say much publicly, but between-the-lines was there anything implied? I’m suffering from false optimism that there’s a chance we’ll steal Gerald Wallace from Charlotte and get rid of Shaddy in the process.
No...
…but he did say both in the presser and on the show how such a trade would go down (i.e. they call Stack and then they deliberate).

It does look like Charlotte wants all former Tar Heels.
Here’s hoping they get the draft pick right before ours and choose Hansbrough.

Thanks....
…I hope Stack remembers to keep his celly turned on – he can fight to save his job by making a few shrewd moves the next three months. He should be on the horn with MJ right now.
Boy Did Dan Barriero
Rip The Timberwolves a New Asshole during the first hour of his show…..Says McHale should have Been Fired before Wittman.
Barriero
made me feel better about the move, and confirmed once again that he is a complete idiot.
I'm really growing tired...
…of his show. He’s really settled into the “I’m the guy in the middle” shtick and he seems to have a contrarian take on everything so that at the end of the day he’s “right” about everything because in sports nothing good lasts forever. I still think he’s a decent host and I like the show in general but it’s becoming very predictable.

Well
I was listening to Barriero while stuck and the snow, and he’s ranting about how McHale should have been fired, that it wasn’t Wittman’s fault and that, by the way, he didn’t listen to Taylor’s press conference and only caught a little bit of the Hartman interview (which was on his own station). Like you said, he only wants to be a contrarian and just sticks to those talking points instead of, you know, studying Minnesota sports issues.
It's the meaningless middle...
…on every issue. He likes to set up Group A against Group B and he’s always in the middle with the right answer. He’s the Joe Klein of KFAN.

I think at the very least...
Taylor will now have the opportunity to see McHale introduced with the starting line-up every home game…and he’ll also get to hear the chorus of “boo’s” that will ensue. It seems like the Anti-McHale sentiment could sometimes be understated because of the overwhelming fan apathy.
