I Just Picked My Pony
I'm rooting for the Hornets. I know I'm a Johny-Come-Lately, they're young and David West needs to calm down in Game 2, but they're a lot of fun to cheer for. Julian Wright's making solid playoff contribution's as a rookie, Peja's healthy and Chris Paul is, well, Chris Paul.
In the 2005 draft, I'll admit I would've taken Deron Williams at the time (who's no slouch himself, mind you), mostly due to CP3's cheap shot on Julius Hodge (about the 1:45 mark). But did you see his NBA Story when he talked bout his grandfather (5:00 mark, but all four parts are wort watching)? Did you know that Chris Paul is a huge bowler? I'm not quite sure what to think about that one yet. Regardless he was and still is my MVP pick.
He's making the San Antonio defense look silly tonight.
As the icing on the cake, CP3 is the only core player for the Hornets that they don't have locked up for a couple more years. Chandler and Stojakovic have two years guaranteed after this, West has three. They may rub up against the tax when Paul gets an extension, but the genius move to give West a descending contract will ease the pain.
EDIT: Just saw the post game interview with Paul. Classy. 30 points, 12 assists, 1 turnover. And he turns 23 tomorrow. Chandler's 25 and West is 28. Scary.
