More Journalmalism at the PiPress
OK, we already know that Joe Soucheray is one of the laziest columnists/commentators in town. From his yearly rants against bicyclists to his daily dull decrees on his very own radio show, the Mayor of Garage Logic doesn't seem to be all that keen on things like research, fact checking, and the internets. Joe doesn't let this problem get in the way of actively pimping the Twinkies from his perch in the PiPress (highlights are mine):
Carlos Gomez has made it imperative that his first plate appearance in every game must be seen or heard for purposes of amusement and entertainment. More than that, even, he is an antidote to anything that might have gone wrong for you during the day. Fender bender? So what, Carlos is playing tonight. Got laid off? Well, there's always Carlos.
Gomez leads off for the Twins, so it is easy to schedule your early-evening activities around at least his first trip to the plate.
The column ends with this:
Joe Soucheray can be reached at jsoucheray@pioneerpress.com or 651-228-5474. Soucheray is heard from 2 to 5:30 p.m. weekdays on KSTP-AM 1500.
While the editors don't appear to want to cross Mr. Soucheray's path, the folks in the PiPress marketing department might want to have a man-to-man with the Mayor to talk about the negatives of free advertising.

Just punch me in the face.
There are some pretty decent journalists in the Twins cities area (LEN III, Joe C. among others), but there’s really a depressing amount of drivel that makes me wonder how some of these guys got their jobs in the first place.
It’s just more reason for me to continue to NOT read the paper. Online, or otherwise.

Yeah, I canceled my Strib subscription last year. I got tired of Sid and Reuuussseeeee in sports and Kersten in the Metro. Meanwhile, the non-sports newsroom continues to dwindle and they’ve turned into a bigger version of the Bloomington Sun Current…focusing on suburban issues.
