Indy Trade Idea
Hey guys, I had a trade idea that just popped in my head that I had to run by y'all. Before I get started, I am not a party with a vested interest, but I thought this would be an interesting idea.
Okay, so
J.O. and Dunleavy for
Antoine, Mad Dog, Buckner, Jaric, and Brewer plus a swithc of picks, so they get yours and you get theirs.
This would give you one of the better defensive big men in the game (granted with health concerns), and a dependable wing who had a break out year. You would also dump some crappy contracts, and still have a high pick to spend on a two guard who can defend (maybe you could trade further down to ger Brandon Rush).
What do y'all think? You get two starters, but you lose a young asset and a really high pick.

O'Neal...
...has too big of a deal to make it worthwhile for Dunleavy. Plus, the picks would probably be problematic.

but
Next year is the last year of his 20 million dollar contract. That is a huge drop from the cap. And I really believe that he has alot left in the tank. You get two quality vet starters. He has been injury prone, but I don’t believe that people realize how good of a defensive player J.O. is. Plus he has expressed a desire to play in the high post which would compliment big Al well. With the pick you could get Brandon Rush, arguably the most N.B.A ready player out there. Also you still have your second rounders, and now youactually have the roster spots to use them. That gives you:
Foye/ Telfair
Rush/ McCants
Dunleavy/ Gomes
Al Jeff/ C. Smith
J.O./ Richard

How could you not do this deal?
JO actually has 2 years left of his 20+ million but that doesn’t really matter. We’re not going to go for any big free agents between now and then anyways so it doesn’t hurt us being over the cap. Once he’s in his expiring year he’s solid gold, we could get a very valuable player for his contract.
We lose no players except Brewer who might not even pan out and get rid of Marko’s 3 years left.
I do this in an instant.

He's broke...

I sagree that the Wolves make out well on talent in the deal
but, despite my lack of faith in his ability to accomplish it, McHale’s goal seems to be to slowly build a championship team. acquiring JO in this trade and at this time wouldn’t make us a championship team now, or in the near future. after JO’s contract expired, we’d still have no championship, and find ourselves right back where we are now.
the only ways for this team to succeed in building a championship are slowly and meticulously.
