Nets trade idea.
I know the value of Rashad McCants in the eyes of T Wolves fans is really varied, but I had a trade idea that I wanted input on.
What about Josh Boone and Marcus Williams for Shaddy. You get your backup point, and a center who plays pretty good d and thrives off of junk points. They get a killer scorer. Oh and the salaries match up perfectly. This would also make it easier for the Nets to trade Vince Carter and get ready to try for Lebron. Thoughts?

Too early. We first need to know which of the McCants/Brewer/Carney are going to work out at the 2 guard.

Yeah and unless something is wrong in the McCants-F.O. relationship, I don’t think they’ll give up on one of their draft picks so soon. Plus, and as much as I hate the word (or non-word I guess), I think McCants has a better “upside” than either of those guys. Mind you it would be nice to see Boone here; never been a big Williams fan, even back to his college days, I think Telfair is the better player.

Do you think they'd take it?
Shaddy has some game and I think with an uptempo element of Love’s passing he could excel in the added space.
Why not move him. We are going to have tons of mid to late 1st round picks coming up and we could try to find a Shaddy replacement. Not sure how we’d work Boone into the rotation.
If we pulled the trigger on that one we’d have to be buying out Booth and possibly Mad-Dog.
Right now we’ve gone from having a glut of guards to just way too many bigs. Most of the bigs we’ve loaded up on aren’t in their prime. Big Al is just hitting his prime or should be just hitting his prime, he still might be a season or two from his “prime”. Collins is on the downside. Cardinal is on the downside. Mad-Dog is on the downside. Smith, Love & Richards are too young to know for sure what they give us. Smith had a great rookie season and an aight season last year. Richards who knows and if this deal went down maybe he’s a casualty of the move. Where does Love fit in and are we taking minutes away from him if we pull this trigger.
I don’t think Love is the answer for sure 100% but it at least looks like that is the hand we’ve traded in to play with. Love and Big Al. Boone is the guy who comes off the bench to spell Love/Al for a few I could get behind that. Where does Collins/Cardinals money/minutes go?
I’d agree that we need to do something it’d just be nice if we could move an expiring contract for an asset like Williams or maybe we could unload a future pick for an asset in a back-up PG.
That’s my two cents.

You guys have got to be kidding...
Why would you not do that? The Nets would never do this trade, that’s for sure.
I guess it comes down to the fact that most fans overestimate the value of players on the team they root for.

I agree...
...in regards to Shaddy. I’ve heard whispers of the team trying to move him last year and no one was interested. I think he’s worth about as much as a toaster right now.

hopefully he keeps his attitude and ego in check and maybe we could move him in a deal at the trade deadline or something. It would also help if he attempted to play some D.

I’d do that trade in a heartbeat, lol. I’m sure a toaster would bring a lot more positivity to the locker room than shaddy has. I can imagine a locker room where Witt is giving his pregame speech and everyone is sitting there with a nice slice of toast .. love it.

(disclaimer...
...I was out of the country for pretty much the entire season last year so didn’t really see McCants play at all. I do think he’s very talented, shot an excellent % from 3, etc…. However I’m unaware of the locker room issues, other than him wanting to start.)

Didn’t see any of these things first hand but there were some things were he seemed to be having words with Wittman at least once. These things were discussed on Britt’s place over at The Rake. If you can’t watch the games Britt’s reports (and commenters) are the next best thing.

He's a supremely...
...talented offensive player but Wim pointed out the issues he had and where you can find out about them. I could care less about how he acts (pouty) as long as he pulls it together on the court. His defense leaves much to be desired as far as that sort of thing goes. He has the tools to be a starting 2, but he seems to have the real-world make-up of being an outstanding 6th man/3rd guard. He seems to be hung up on his title rather than his minutes, as he didn’t really see any fewer minutes when he was moved to the bench last year.

Looks like Williams has been traded
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=txnetswilliams&prov=st&type=lgns
Traded for a protected 2011 1st rounder. Surely Shaddy’s got more value than that.
