Maroussi Costa Coffee has announced that center Loukas Mavrokefalidis has inked a one-year deal with the team. Mavrokefalidis (207, 24) arrives from Olympiacos, where he averaged 4.1 points and 3.4 rebounds in 10 Euroleague games last season, in which he helped his team to reach the Euroleague Quarterfinals and the Greek League finals. He has also played for Lottomatica Roma in Italy, Pamesa Valencia in Spain and PAOK Thessaloniki in his native Greece. Mavrokefalidis has a breakout 2005-06 season with PAOK, averaging 16.5 points and 8.2 rebounds in 26 Greek League games at age 21. Maroussi has also inked Nikolay Padius and Billy Keys earlier this season, as well as keeping Jarod Stevenson and Andreas Glyniadakis.

Not exactly huge news, as we shouldn't expect Mavrokefalidis to be in the States anytime soon. But, if you're waiting for 2008 2nd round pick Nikola Pekovic to turn into Mavrokefalidis II, don't hold your breath. Pekovic is, by all accounts, the real deal.
