Three for three: Ryan Gomes became the third Wolves’ free agent in eight days to agree to a new contract when he and his agent did so on Friday to a multi-year contract.
I probably won’t track down the financial nitty gritty until after the weekend, but I’m pretty sure the contract is for at least three years and it conditionally might be another couple years longer than that.

It’s probably obvious to you, but it’s a good thing the Wolves locked him up. He’s a special player.

Agreed...
...if there was one guy they had to sign it was him. He’s one of those solid glue guys that can really round out a nice roster.

Garnett trade after year 1
So far, while the Celtics have 1 championship, Minnesota has:
Jefferson, Gomes, Telfair all signed to two or more year contracts.
2nd round pick from the Green trade
Kevin Love (though wolves pick was protected)
Boston’s first rounder next year
( there are probably other things, like getting ratliff’s contract off the cap, that I’m forgetting)
So far Boston looks pretty good here, but, the wolves have committed to developing those trade pieces. Let’s see how year 2 plays out…

I think...
...Smith is developed as far as he can. I think Bassy and Gomes can really improve their games this year…esp Bassy.

How long has the “Doing the right rebuilding thing” streak been going on. If this was the tour the France I’d say the FO might not be clean!
No seriously, happy he signed and happy they all seemed to want to come back. I’m curious how Witt will handle the rotation, I’m predicting a lot of yo-yo’ing again because he needs to give each player a chance.

I’m also curious about the rotations. I’m guessing that, if no other trades are made, the opening lineup will be:
Foye
Miller
Gomes
Love
Jefferson
That lineup will be too slow on both ends of the floor and I’d guess either Shaddy, Telfair, Brewer or some combination will replace either Miller or Gomes in the starting lineup. I’m glad they brought back Gomes, though. He was our second-best player for most of last season and is still pretty young.

By some measures...
http://basketballvalue.com/topplayers.php?&year=2007-2008
...he was the best player on the team last year in terms of all-around play.

and miller made the list, too
... but quite a bit lower than Gomes. I think many will be happily surprised at Miller’s play here. Whoever he replaces in the starting lineup is going to have a hard time getting back in the game.
And for what it’s worth, I’ll happily eat crow if McHale ends up right with his prediction of games won. There may have been enough additions (Miller, Collins and Love, in order of importance) and smart resignings (Telfair and Gomes) to make it happen.

Not sure which thread we're going off of
But, Gomes apparently got a 5 year deal.
