Longtime KFAN talk-show host Chad Hartman has been let go by the station.

Hartman's dismissal was one of several made by the Clear Channel-owned company. Clear Channel owns seven stations in this market.

Also let go from KFAN was Hartman's producer, Darren (Doogie) Wolfson, who served in a variety of capacities at the station and frequently hosted on weekends.

Good Riddance?

I don’t wish losing their job on anyone (perhaps besides GWB), but I won’t miss Hartman the Younger at all.

Funny that it happens on the day we have a new president. I won’t miss his attempts to bring politics into a sports radio show and the fact that he probably only had the job b/c of his dad.

Here’s hoping the Strib comes to the same conclusion about the elder Hartman. . .

I'm kind of mixed on the Son of Sid...

…on one hand, I can’t stand the legacy issues with him and his dad and in the way you heard him talk to Doogie and the way in which he deals with “lessers” you can definitely see how the Big Sid raised his kid. On the other hand, he was one of the more solid contributors to Wolves talk on the station and I think he was a much better interviewer than Barreiro, especially with political guests. If anything, I think he was expendable because his show was too close to what the 4-7 show brought to the table. Barreiro’s show works because of prep and fantastic guests. He’s done a good job of making the news/sports blend work. Hartman’s show never seemed to master this balance and lately he seemed to be relying too heavily on the annoying fantasy football guy. It also seemed like a lesser version of the big time star. He was Ricky Davis to Spree.

That being said, Doogie’s enthusiasm was growing on me and I liked the fact that he mucked it up over at Rube Chat and that he was always digging for the extra angle, no matter if it was beyond homerish or not. It seemed like he was a hard worker and I always felt bad for the way he was dismissed with typical Hartman family flair when he expressed something that Chad disagreed with.

It will be interesting to see if guys like Hartman and Mischke get picked up by WCCO. Also, here’s hoping their checks don’t bounce like the folks who got bought out by the Strib:

Agreed on the wolves angle

He did bring a different perspective on the Wolves from Barreiro (McHale’s an Idiot! — how timely and informative) and he was genuine about his interest in the Wolves and NBA, which will be missed at the flagship of the team, particularly if his slot is taken by common and DB.

However, I couldn’t stand the frequent times when he came across as condescending to the audience, his producer or his guest. The guy just wasn’t that good and anyone who had as much of an aura of nepotism around him as he did probably should have been more humble.

completely agreed..

…on the second point. I couldn’t believe some of the crap he gave to his producer on air. Completely classless. I remember something about a month ago where Doogie expressed an opinion (about the Vikes) that he said was stupid. It turned out to be the case and then he presented the idea as his own…literally a few segments later. More humility would have served him well.
