Around SBN: Steve McNair Dead - Former NFL QB Shot and Killed

"[Shaun] Livingston was informed of his release after Monday night's 91-84 loss to the San Antonio Spurs at AmericanAirlines Arena, with the team expected to make a formal announcement later this morning."

Anyone still interested in Livingston? Especially now that Ollie's down for 3 weeks.

I am...

…I wanted him badly in the off-season, and this is opportune timing considering that Ollie just went down. It sounds like he’s capable of playing 10-15 minutes a night, which is all we need right now from Telfair’s backup. We could (hopefully) sign him to a ten day, or maybe for the rest of the season. Getting him now would give us an inside track to re-signing him after the season, if his knee keeps healing.

Risk vs. Rewards says, "YES!"

The only question is if there were any bad blood spilt between he and the Wolves the last time he was available.

Or, maybe he was a huge Wittman fan, and now that Randy’s gone, Livingston won’t come here.

Come now

If he was a “huge” Wittman fan we don’t want him. Heck, if he’s a huge McHale fan we don’t want him either.

We should just formally announce that the “Randy Foye Point Guard Experiment” is finished. That leaves Telfair as the only viable option for the long-term and Shaun would have to like his odds at future playing time. That is, unless/until we draft Brandon Jennings.

I think it is done...

…he’s playing much better at the off guard and the team doesn’t slog down when he’s playing off the ball. Here’s a question for fans: if they could lock in Jennings now with the top pick, would you take that chance? I would jump all over it. I think he’s going to be a special player from what I’ve seen of him. Plus, I think the whole marketing angle is a winner for the Wovles with him on board. How about going after Ben Gordon and drafting Jennings? Later today I have a post scheduled comparing Mayo and Gordon. It’s pretty uncanny how similar they are.

not sure it's done...

I’ve only seen one of the last 5-6 games, but isn’t he still getting 10-15 min.s a game there? I for one like to see him playing both spots, though I agree, the offence looks better with him at the 2. Anyways, re: Livingston – does anyone know what happened to him in Miami? Did they just decide he was never going to be anywhere near what he was before?

If he is healthy and can play immediately, and still has some of that tremendous upside, you’d think the Wolves would have to jump at this.

Re: Livingston

The Sun-Sentinel piece intimated that SL’s knee is still limiting his lateral quickness, i.e., he still looks a little stiff, but that he is healthy enough to play and wanted more minutes. I’m not sure that he’s simply lost whatever talent he had—Spoelstra is a rookie coach who has made some other questionable decisions this year, not least being his allotment of minutes to Beasley, so it’s possible that he’s been “shackled” a bit by Spoelstra. If we sign him, I’m not going to expect a miracle this year, but if he provided 10-15 solid minutes with some improvement toward March and April, we could be optimistic that he could make an impact next year, after he’s had another five months to heal and rehab the knee. It’s a risk well worth taking, in my opinion, especially now that we need another point guard.

OMG, this could not have come at a more possible time. Come on Livingston accept thy fate! You will be redeemed for passing us up the first time, come to light! (or are we the dark site, hmm hard to tell the force is)

Signing livingston is 0 risk but high possible reward.
