No Radio Feeds either or no streams any place else yet...good luck folks.

as for me..I’m sitting down and enjoying a little college hockey tonight, The Gophers vs the Fighting Sioux on FSN North tonight.

Continued defensive hustle from Al

He’s putting out the effort tonight. Getting back better, that kind of thing.

by feral on Oct 16, 2009 7:43 PM CDT reply actions

That’s all you can ask.. If he’d just step up more and make plays like that, I’d be pretty damn happy. The lack of effort is what kills him..

Jennings: F*** the Knicks, them n***** is always going to be weak.

Based on the last five minutes or so

I’d say the weight, and his condition once he gets it back, are going to make a difference. He’s lighter, he’s getting up and down.

He still doesn’t have the instincts, though. Still gets tangled up half a step behind the offensive counter-move.

by feral on Oct 16, 2009 7:50 PM CDT up reply actions

Then he goes out and completely blows a contain situation against Hinrich.. He just stood there on the show.. I’m not sure he even turned, just let Hinrich blow around him like he was setting the pick.

that was a fantastic play...

….by sessions. he saw love running his lane on the break and he couldn’t make the pass so he shot it up knowing he’d either make it or love would likely get the board.

by TSAX on Oct 16, 2009 7:49 PM CDT reply actions

Although....

at this point Rambis is probably willing to try anything! This totally reminds me of last season with everyone all gummed up in Wittman’s halfcourt sets. NO ONE could hit a shot. Remember? McCants, Foye, Gomes….Just horrible.

by Rascal Flatts on Oct 16, 2009 7:52 PM CDT up reply actions

How has it taken Ty Thomas this long to realize that all he needs to do offensively is make off-ball cuts? When Brad Miller’s your C, you can make a living off of cuts with that sort of absurd athleticism. That kid’s going to be something awesome if he ever actually figures it out..

Thomas is the antithesis of Love.. No smarts and absolutely absurd length/athleticism. If those two go up in a situation where Love can’t body him out of the way, Love’s gonna lose it every time. Thomas is a freak of a jumper.

Someone had to hit a shot. Gomes, Ellington, Sessions, Flynn, and Jefferson were 2-23! I don’t know if I’ve ever seen such futility from a sample of 5 players! I think the basketball gods evened things out with Pech’s little flourish there. I suspect the other guys will do better in the 2nd half and he’ll start laying bricks again.

Agreed in general, but it’s still a small sample size. I don’t expect shooting to be a strong point by any means, but guys like Gomes and Ellington are going to start knocking those open shots down. Right now we’re bricking EVERYTHING.

Not as bad as it looks. Better than last game. D first, offense comes with good D.

mos def.....

offense and streaking down the court will be very important… though they do have a handful of shooter, gomes, ellington, pavs. i still think they are much more athletically suited to run, because they seem to really struggle to hit. but i agree with you xand1 this is a just terrible showing, not necessarily the norm every night.

all in all

we don’t deserve to be this close

by TMiss on Oct 16, 2009 8:16 PM CDT reply actions

so far this preseason

our advantages, in general, have come in FTA, FT%, and rebound differential. this game, at half time, we’re down two rebounds, have taken 10 fewer FTAs, and hit 10% better.

it’s amazing we’re in this at all when that’s all combined with the horrible shooting.

by losDelFuego on Oct 16, 2009 8:18 PM CDT up reply actions

Weird game – check the box. They’re shooting more FT’s, a better % from the field, are outrebounding us and out-assisting us, and yet we’re only down 7. Why? We’ve shot 12 more times than they have… weird.

Jennings: F*** the Knicks, them n***** is always going to be weak.

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen 5 rotation players put up a more futile shooting performance for a half. Wow! I can’t believe we’re in this thing!

by Rascal Flatts on Oct 16, 2009 8:18 PM CDT reply actions

seriously

we’re at the point in preseason where coaches are pushing too hard and players are confused.

All I ask for are occasional flashes of brilliance. Anything else would be too much to ask.

by TMiss on Oct 16, 2009 8:21 PM CDT up reply actions

I agree...

The half court offense clearly has not reached any sort of comfort level yet.

They look like I did the first time I went to an organized B-Ball camp. The coaches started drawing up plays, and I was lost. The only play I knew was throw the ball to me and watch me score…

Mind you, I was in 6th grade at the time.

"I'm gonna make you cry...I'm gonna make you cry and dip my cookie in your tears!!!"

by mutleyil on Oct 16, 2009 8:31 PM CDT up reply actions

Let's see how Love responds in the second half

He took a beating from Tyrus in the first. That shot of him on the bench, he had the same shellshocked expression that Randy Foye did last year when he got blitzed by Russell Westbrook.

by Oceanary on Oct 16, 2009 8:21 PM CDT reply actions

1st half thoughts...

I missed parts of the 1st quarter, but:

- Our team outside shooting looks terrible again. Maybe we could build the team a new arena with al the bricks we will see this year
- Some lapses, but our overall perimeter D will be a million times better this year
- Stewie may have some niche value after all. Pav has been bombing a bit again, but has shown a little more to his game tonight (bringing the ball up, putting it on the floor and driving, helping on the D glass)

"I'm gonna make you cry...I'm gonna make you cry and dip my cookie in your tears!!!"

Here's more info on the Love Injury

Kevin Love broke the fourth metacarpal bone in his left hand in the third quarter of tonight’s game at Chicago.

He went to the locker room with fewer than four minutes remaining in the quarter, after apparently injuring the hand going for a rebound.

Absolutely...

Played D, hit jumpers, ran the floor, good on the D glass again. I would love to get this from him consistently.

Good chance to see Rambis' end of game management here...

He's probably glad

That he doesn’t have to give it to Kobe for a 30% fade away jumper. Of course, the way they’ve been shooting tonight…

by aarendsvark on Oct 16, 2009 9:35 PM CDT up reply actions

Yeah, it's preseason

The only consolation I have is knowing that Wayne Ellington can’t shoot this poorly all the time… right?

by aarendsvark on Oct 16, 2009 9:34 PM CDT reply actions

Let's see if we can actually get a decent shot off...

Unlike last year…

Guess not...

Way to go Pech.

Rambis needs to pull him and Pav aside and tell them they don’t have to shoot EVERY time they touch the ball.

I think Rambis is going to kill Stewie

OK

lets be honest here. Pecherov is stewie if stewie was special needs.

Maybe he's more Jimmy than Stewie

Pecherov=Stewie

Though I still like White Hole. Especially after plays like that, where it’s apparent that the ball can’t escape his gravitational sucking

I think we'll have to keep

the “white hole”…that is a fantastic nick name

at least it looks like..

…rambis can coach. that’s one area where the wolves are already miles ahead of the bulls.

Did he just design that play for Pech?

If he did, it was brilliant. Last guy they’d be expecting, and sadly, one of our best options for 3.

For once, I agree with the bulls' announcers

I don’t want Corey Brewer taking that shot. Unless he’s been hypnotized in the off-season to stop clanking jumpers.

by aarendsvark on Oct 16, 2009 9:46 PM CDT up reply actions

I didn't want that either, but...

…Corey was the only guy open for the inbound pass and no one gave him a good passing lane as he went up the floor.

Bad shot for sure, but Corey was our best player tonight. That’s something at least.
