Highlights from the Wolves-Bucks Game
Is anyone doubting Corey Brewer's shooting skills- like me? Well watch this video (Around the 1:28 mark) and say the same thing. Other Wolves' highlights include an outlet pass from Al Jefferson to Corey Brewer, who made a nice pass to Jonny Flynn for the dunk and Big Al's awesome in the post moves.
Well, here's the video:

You can hit from half-court yourself
Just not consistently.
Same with Corey. He can hit an off-balance, wrong-footed shot from range. He just can’t do anything, offensively, consistently.

I'm not sure if I could.
I mean I PROBABLY could, but I’ve never played on a real NBA court, so I’m not sure.

Brewer
The problem with Brewer obviously is that he is too close to the basket when he shoots. He just needs to chuck more half court shots up.

Brewers issue is
his inconsistency in quickly establishing and maintaining a strong lower body base on his jumper.
His arm and hand position, his release and follow through has been just fine from the moment he joined the Twolves – as shown by his 80% career FT percentage. You can’t shoot that well and be fundamentally unsound.
But because he is so tall, and so thin, it is not so easy to establish a sound lower body. Without it, it causes him to “float” a little during his jumper. That’s what causes the inconsistency. If he can get his lower body under control, he will be a very adequate shooter.

He needs to be more of a set shooter
Most of the lanky guys limit their movement as much as possible on outside shots so that they’re straighter. Part of that, though, is being able to generate enough power so that he doesn’t have to expend a lot of energy just getting it there.

Exactly!
I think this was the problem, he used to kind “whip” his body to generate the power to get it there.

I do think his shot form has improved radically. I’ve only watched the summer league games so none of this pre-season ones BUT it was apparant to me that he no longer stuck his behind out when shooting. I remember Rambis mentioning this and actually I’m baffled this wasn’t fixed pre-Rambis.
I’m not saying this means he will be able to shoot, but at least he won’t look like he has to give it his all just to reach the basket…

With the certainty of being flamed, big time, our team is struggling with outside shooting while there exists a cheap player available who has been one of the league’s best shooters over his entire career. Wally World.

I have nothing against Wally world, problem is he’s too old; he’d only be a rental. That would effectively bomb the “Are we going to keep Brewer/Gomes storyline”. But; no flaming here ;)

I think that would be hilarious. I’m on board.

I don't disgaree
I just think (based on what others have said) that the dude is a jerk who got way too much adulation for being a “hustler” and “hard worker” just because he was white and slow. I’d rather see Ellington go through some 0-fers than see the home crowd cheer for Wally again.

Brewer
Averages through 5 pre-season games:
23 minutes
36% field goals
7.2 FTA’s
3.8 rebs
1.4 assts
1.2 TOs
1.6 stls
12.6 pts
Cumulative +/- = -2
I look at that and say that he is helping more than hurting. Yes, the shooting is horrid, but he’s been solid or very good in every other facet of the game. If he can knock down the occasional jumper, it’s good enough to justify more minutes considering everything else he does well. I think he’s going to lock up the starting 2-guard slot considering the lack of better options. Now the question is whether his option gets picked up.

The whole key has been the FTAs
It’s unrealistic to expect them to be the same in the regular season, but he shoots them well and isn’t afraid to look ugly in drawing fouls.

Lol, what's with the poll?
Why did you lump all of 45% to 55% together when the vast majority of the league shoots in that range? Under 33% deserves its own category, but there wasn’t enough room to break that range into two or more parts?

Corey has issues on offense, but let's give him some credit
He’s been our best player so far this preseason.
Also, Hakim Warrick sure would look good in a Wolves jersey….

And Hakim would be a good player on the Wolves, he would bring that athletic ability.
I didn’t even think of that, I think Hakim could be a nice back-up SF/PF.

The twolves have a full team of backups, they need starters.
