Wolves make cuts

From the team's press release:

Minneapolis/St. Paul – The Minnesota Timberwolves today announced the team has requested waivers on guards Devin Green and Mustafa Shakur. The preseason roster now stands at 14 players.

Green and Shakur both signed with the Wolves as free agents on Sept. 28, 2009. Green grabbed one rebound and blocked one shot in five minutes during his lone preseason appearance. Shakur saw action in two preseason games, averaging 2.5 points in 5.5 minutes.

An updated preseason roster is attached. (Updated Wolves Roster...pdf)

Zgoda was saying that Jason Hart is most likely the final cut

you would think that Jered Reiner would stay due to the Kevin Love situation.

It's not entirely inconceiveable that they won't cut

anyone. With Love on the shelf, that leaves 13 bodies. Zgoda seems to think they will find a better 3rd point guard than Hart on the waiver wire, which might be true, but then it also might not be true.

If Hart does get cut, it'll probably be the day before the season opener

I’m not at all sure we’ll find a better 3rd point guard, but the team will hang onto Hart as long as possible to hedge their bets while they watch other teams’ waiver wires.

Reiner on the other hand will probably be cut eventually. We’re obviously hurting for bodies right now, but as other teams make cuts of their own, there will be plenty of servicable big men out there.

Personally I’m hoping the Bulls cut Chris Richard so we can bring him back. I’m sure the team will be watching Rob Kurz and Garrett Siler because of summer league as well.
