GameThread -3: @ Nuggets
Minnesota Timberwolves at Denver Nuggets, Oct 20, 2009 8:00 PM CDT
And now, a visual tour of Nuggets forward Renaldo Balkman's tattoos:
Yes. It says 'Kool' inside Renaldo Balkman's lower lip.
Look, if Kevin Love and Al Jefferson miss significant portions of the season, we're going to have to find interesting things to talk about. Of course, we could always talk about the healthy frontcourt rotation:
PF: Ryan Gomes, Brian Cardinal, Oleksiy Pecherov
C: Ryan Hollins, Nathan Jawai, Jared Reiner
Now can we get back to the tattoos?

That's what happens when you have injured star players.
Everyone else tries to step up and they play as well as they can.

Scroll down for a Randy Foye layup.
For all the "Brian Cardinal has an awesome plus-minus" guys out there...
The statistical anomaly is coming to an end. He’s a -17.
I'm one of them...
Bad night I guess! Hey, tough to throw him out there as the first guy off the bench against a contending team. I’ve always felt he’s good in steady 10-15 minute doses, because that’s historically the minutes he’s played when putting up those nice On/Off numbers over the years.

So once again Corey is our best player
I’m really happy to see the kid doing well. Hopefully he keeps it up all season.
But the fact he’s been our best and most consistent player this preseason is really worrying…
I don’t think they’ve made a shot in like 5 minutes.
Jennings: F*** the Knicks, them n***** is always going to be weak.
And as I type, Brewer hits a J. This might all be worthwhile if he carries this into the regular season (and the rest of his career).

I never thought I would see the day when COREY BREWER is carrying an NBA team offensively.
I agree, if Corey having to shoulder the load helps him develop a consistent offensive game, it is an extraordinarily positive development.
Brewer is no longer looking so stellar, though. He’s got 16 points, but he has played 8 more minutes than anybody else, has taken a quarter of our total shots, is 6-15 from the field, and 2-4 at the line.
It is nice to see him knock down some jumpers though.
At least Corey seems determined to accomplish something this preseason
Looks like he justifies that #7 pick status this year (and it seems almost certain his option will get picked up now)
That’s pretty much the only real positive we have so far.
We know
and are prepared for it at the start of the season. Get Jefferson’s game legs back under him and insert Love around Christmas while the other guys get used to playing together and I think they will be ok for 30 wins. (Yes I’m still optimistic :))

Where is Balkman's "Aid" tattoo?
Does he have one that reads “Oh YEAH” ?
Do they let 8-year-olds get tattoos in his neighborhood?
Brewer's play of late
I think the word I’d use is encouraging. I don’t want to get too ahead of ourselves, but if he keeps this up, it would be an absolutely massive positive development. And I’m not expecting 20PPG at all. I’m just talking about knockin’ down the occasional 3-pt shot, slashing in the lane to get to the line, and keeping up all the other things he does well. Hell, I’ll take a 41% FG, 5FTAs, and 1 3-pointer per game any day, all day from Mr. Brewer. That’s good ‘nuff for the role we want him to play. Let’s hope he keeps this up. It’s clear he’s working his butt off for this team.
Good point Rascal
We all have to remember that no matter how frustrated we get and how badly we want him to do well, he wants it infinitely more. And he is working for it.
Absolutely
I think we can ink Corey in for at least 30 min per game at this point and he should clearly start so we can throw him on the opposing team’s best 2-3 from the tip. I am very happy to say that I was wrong for writing the guy off.
He benefits from the triangle
Because he doesn’t have to beat people off the dribble. When he does dribble, it’s off of cuts or on the fast break. It limits his turnovers and allows him to be closer to the basket when he makes his move. That play late at Chicago where he got the ball off of a cut and drew a foul was an example of his idea offensive role in the halfcourt.
