ESPN Wolves Projections: Writers vs. Stat Guys/Coaches
You can see it here. It was an interesting divide in where this team would finish this season. I was more in agreement with the writers because it looks like they're going all-in with the triangle and that will make them a less-effective offensive team this year, but if not for the preponderance of writers/analysts against David Thorpe and John Hollinger (and Jalen Rose, surprisingly), they'd be ranked higher. And justifiably so, because they're not that far below Memphis/Golden State/OKC talent-wise and it's not inconceivable that they'd finish above them in the standings.
Two questions from this: to what extent do you agree/disagree with the opinions of the various panelists and the team's ranking? Second, who do you tend to follow: writers who get paid for their opinions and to report things (which leads them to not watch the nuances of the game as closely or a guy like Thorpe (who coaches some of these guys and has a business to run that relies on getting players in there) or Hollinger (a lone voice in this area on the site who relies on stats but is perceived as a guy who might have an agenda to buck conventional knowledge)?

Looks about right
I was on the bandwagon for 30-35 wins until the Love injury, the Jefferson “tendonitis” and preseason play. Now I’m seeing 27-33. It appears this team will take a while to gel. Keys to Wolves winning 35-40 games:
-Brewer 45% on FGs
-Jefferson all star
-Love averaging 15 and 12
-Flynn and Sessions developing
-Everyone staying healthy after Love’s return
-Some form of team defense
That’s a lot to go right, which is why I’d have to objectively expect about 28 wins and a top 5 draft pick.

Just think if we got 6/6
I’d put us at a 40-50 win team! That being said, long ways away….
Jefferson will take a step back this year (at least for a couple months), but the silver lining here might be that someone takes over (Corey! Flynn? Sessions will give us what he gave Milwaukee and not much more)

And with that pick I'd really like to see either Evan Turner or Cole Aldrich
Both play defense and both can play two positions (Turner can play three—a la Hedo Turkoglu). Both can score, and both will hit their prime at the same time as Love, Flynn, Sessions and Ellington. And I’m still calling for Singler with our Utah pick. I’ll provide a draft post once we see what we have by December/January.

Turner has more potential
both bang and bust. I’m gonna be watching him VERY closely this year though.

Who knows
maybe some random sophomore or freshmen will have a great year and move from obscurity to the lottery and we’ll want that player.

Yeah... cuz THAT happens so often!
Haha, just kidding. And someone will also move from lottery to obscurity and we won’t want that player. It’s the way the cookie crumbles.

I'm on record as predicting 21 wins
I feel like it was too low at the time, but now with the injuries, it might be just right.
We’ll be 14th in the West ahead of Sacramento. We’ll probably be better than 3 or 4 Eastern Conference teams, but since wins are easier to come by over there, we might have a worse record than some of them.
