Question for DirecTV Users
So after a few years of receiving the anal probe that is Comcast's cable TV package, my roommate and I took advantage of the DirecTV incentives and switched over. My plan was to get the NBA League Pass package, but as I was watching the free League Pass preview, I noticed something: I couldn't watch the Wolves game but could watch every other game. This is a problem as I don't have a package that includes FSNorth. I also don't want to plop down the money for the package if it doesn't include Wolves games.
My question is this: do other DirecTV subscribers have similar problems? I live in the NW suburbs and am wondering whether the blackout rules affect this. I have the Choice package (the second-cheapest one) and was also wondering whether I should be getting FSNorth. I don't want to pay for the League Pass cable package if it doesn't include Wolves games.

I have DirecTV and only got League Pass this year because there are so many games this season that aren’t being broadcasted locally. I’m pretty sure that any game broadcasted on 45 or FSN will be blacked out on League Pass and only the games that aren’t being aired locally will be shown, assuming that the other team is airing the game. I think there are 3 games all season that won’t be aired by the Wolves or their opponents.
Thanks
Could you post on this thread after one of the No-TV games this month (F 11/6, F 11/13, Sat 11/14, M 11/23) and indicate whether you could get the opponent’s broadcast?

Yes
my friend i have the same problem.
It’s always that way when say the Twins are on FSNorth and on MLB Network, you wont get it on MLBNetwork.
But getting to you rquestion, no you wwon’t be able to see the Wolves game as long as they’re on FSN.

If you live in the NW suburbs
you will be blocked from all of the channel 45 and FSN North Games on NBA ticket. Thats the way the NBA rules work on this subject. I live outstate – outside the range of channel 45, but inside FSN North’s home territory, so I get the 45 games on NBA ticket, but not the FSN North games. You should get all of the games that aren’t covered by either 45 or FSN North with the exception of 5 games that aren’t being broadcast by either us or our opponent.
again
If only there were some way for technology to make it possible to broadcast a game while showing it on cable and via dish and on the Internet all at the same time.
If only.
we pay to see the games!
There really needs to be some kind of FCC ruling/law passed, etc. When you PAY for a premium product you should get all the games. Same thing is a common theme for MLB games and their “territorial” areas are far worse.
Well at least it will just drive everyone to justin.tv or whatever ripoffs are out there.
Yeah but. . .
I’m sure you know the theory behind it is" If they can’t see ‘em on TV, they’ll come to the games." I don’t think I have ever seen a business model where that actually works.

I am considering DirectTV and trying to follow this.
If I sign up and DON’T pay for League Pass, do I get to watch Wolves local broadcasts or not?
If I DO sign up, do I get to watch a lot of Wolves games that aren’t broadcast here?
How do you not have FS North?
If you live in the NW Suburbs, it should be part of your basic service on channel 668.

Maybe it’s a service problem, but it said that the channel wasn’t purchased. It might be something I have to check with DirecTV.

You should get FSN
I just switched to DirecTV as well – I live in the SE. I get FSN (channel 668) and you should as well.
FSN should be part of your package, as long as you didn’t get the low-low-low option. If you got the $29.99 (regular $55.99) package or up, you should have it.
