GameThread #10: vs. Dallas
Dallas Mavericks at Minnesota Timberwolves, Nov 13, 2009 7:00 PM CST
Tonight the Wolves will be without Al Jefferson as he tends to family matters. While trotting out a lineup of Flynn/Brewer/Gomes/Pecherov/Hollins may not be very attractive, tonight will give the Wolves a chance to operate the quasi-triangle without Big Al. Al's by no means on the hot seat right now but he hasn't looked like his old self yet this year. No doubt he's still feeling the effects of injury, but Al is no longer the focal point of the offense and ball movement hasn't exactly been his strength in the past.

The Lineup is Actually
Hollins/Jawai/Gomes/Brewer/Flynn
Yes, in the same way a multi-car pile-up
is interesting

Sure is nice to not be listening to the Blazers announcers this time
I can actually have the sound on without getting a headache
Hollins certainly looks like a guy who spent a ton of time practicing against Dirk
If he can do tonight what he did against Aldridge last Wednesday, we have a pretty solid chance tonight.
Ugh
Pavs is so bad. I’m dreaming of the day he’s replaced by a competent wing.
When I get sad, I stop being sad and be awesome instead. True story.
Why can Pavlovic not catch?
Every time he goes for the ball near the sidelines, he drops it out of bounds…
Bahaha, the users on the Gamefaqs NBA board have dubbed the Portland/New Orleans game POR-NO
And since the teams have combined for just 20 points in the first quarter, they’re going nuts with the porno jokes….
This POR-NO is being badly directed
Not a lot of scoring going on in this POR-NO
Nobody can get it in the hole, tonight
Oh, this is priceless…
While the S&R General board has a better sense of humor...
… that’s a very classy thread.
You were a daydreamer, a sass-mouth, and, not infrequently, a bit of a gigglepuss. Somehow I doubt twenty years of amphetamines and failure have done anything to improve that.

That turnaround was nuts. The guy has some potential!

If we could get Shaddy back...
… just to place cupcakes on the rim, I think Jawai might realize his potential faster.

Flynn and Sessions are in together, holy crap. Flynn just found him on the break for a dunk. Not bad!
When I get sad, I stop being sad and be awesome instead. True story.
Perfect opportunity for them to play together.
Kidd/Barea is not exactly the tallest backcourt in the league.

So again, we play better without Jefferson or Love...
What do we make of this…? It’s happening enough now to draw finite conclusions from it…
Can’t really judge without Love as he has yet to play. The Jefferson thing is an interesting plot line, though.

Shooting 4 for 22
will get that done. Four made shots – 2 dunks, a 4 footer, and a 6 footer. What are we 7 yeras old? Sprinkle in a few TOs and 3 for 6 from the line and viola! Eleven points. We’re on the short end of a 13-2 run right now. Please, please, let it not get to a 66-33 run for the third straight game.
All right, brain. You don't like me and I don't like you, but let's just do this and I can get back to killing you with beer.
Homer
Ok, better...
Still need to execute every possession though.
This seems like a good game to let Flynn go at it in the fourth.
THAT is the shot Brewer cannotbe taking
Heels onthe 3 point line off the dribble over a defender. Come on, Corey, you will never make it.
All right, brain. You don't like me and I don't like you, but let's just do this and I can get back to killing you with beer.
Homer
Ugh. Flynn set Hollins up with a sick behind the back pass and Hollins somehow got stripped after catching it for like the 3rd time this game.. It’s like he gets so excited at the possibility of a dunk that he can’t even catch it and protect it.
When I get sad, I stop being sad and be awesome instead. True story.
That was a humiliating series of offensive boards.

Seriously
how many effing layups are we getting hammered on? I refuse to believe even we can miss so many layups.
All right, brain. You don't like me and I don't like you, but let's just do this and I can get back to killing you with beer.
Homer
Well, he dribbled off his foot...
…then clanked a 3. Then followed up with a steal and assist. So…uh, I guess we don’t know.
All right, brain. You don't like me and I don't like you, but let's just do this and I can get back to killing you with beer.
Homer
I hope he’s Hulk mad. This game is all sorts of interesting. Thanks god for a good feed.

When Jonny hulks out...
… he grows to a gigantic 6’2.

Stop it Corey
Do what you do well. Only.

Homer
And Gooden only gets a regular foul
and Hollins is gone for tomorrow night as well right?
Jason Terry...
…with the wings after he can’t dunk. Classic.

Boooooooo
No dedicated servers. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I've loved Infinity Ward since CoD1.
Along with Bioware, they were the only other developer that had my pre-order guaranteed (speaking of, Dragon Age rules). The dedicated server change is something I can’t support. Period.
Anyways, if I want to play their five hours of campaign, I’ll just pirate it out of spite. :D

The campaign is too damn short...
…but I’m a huge sucker for good multiplayer and despite the dedicated server nonsense (the petition will eventually change their minds) it’s still a must have.

They might get my money if they cave on dedicated servers.
Until then, they can live with their millions in preorder money that they’re likely swimming in like Scrooge McDuck.

spec ops...
…is a fantastic mode too. that being said, i’m more excited about l4d2. that and pac man ce are the only damn games i’m good at.

Yeah, I've heard modest things about that.
L4D2 gets kind of a shrug from me. I dunno. There’s something about me and Source engine-ish stuff that doesn’t work well. I played L4D for a while, but never really got too much of a kick out of it. I honestly had more fun with max difficulty campaigns with 4 buddies than I did with versus. Then all my buddies wanted to play versus. shrug

Pekovic is always a set slow on defense
Always.
If only we could somehow transfer his shooting into Corey…
Yeah.
That alone brings in another 13-14 viewers to the broadcast. More than they’d get from the Wolves game.

I wonder what the league record is
for consecutive losses by 15+?
by Eric in Madison on Nov 13, 2009 9:01 PM CST reply actions
Thank the Lord
We came from behind and beat NJ in the opener. So odd to root for a team that’s lucky to (soon) be 1-9.
On a less positive note, don’t believe Brewer’s 4-13 shooting night is going to improve his FG% of 36 percent

To think he started 3-3.
I haven’t seen this great of a collapse since the fall of the Western Roman Empire.

That actually occurred to me as I was about to post...
…just decided to stay with it and hope for a little luck.
Did Gooden just say...
…’I’ll F%^%^ him up for you next time."? To Barea as he helped him up after the Cardinal foul? That guy is an ass with a reputation. And still doesn’t get the flagrant on Hollins. Oy.

I started it again
and it’s fine. And I thought I heard Gooden say “I’ll foul him mumble mumble.” I like the other translations better.
It figures the one time we actually give ourselves a free throw advantage, we can't hit them
It’d be an 8 point game otherwise….
Jason Hart sighting.

Not quite 66-33
but we did suffer through a 55-34 run. Three straight games where we just got crushed in the middle of the game. It is like the other team realizes we have no talent and steps it up and crushes us.
