Dumped for something better; Game Thread #16
Phoenix Suns at Minnesota Timberwolves, Nov 27, 2009 8:30 PM CST
It was supposed to be an ESPN tilt. Instead, OKC and Milwaukee take the national stage while the Wolves are without local TV.
Hooray!

Just sent my designated plenipotentiary
This is Rambis Glasses night.
Too late for me, though. I guess the original 8:30 start was meant for ESPN, right? Man, am I boring.
"It has come to the editor’s attention that the Herald-Leader neglected to cover the civil rights movement. We regret the omission."
I picked Al Jefferson today in Pick One Challenge.
Do you guys think that was smart? If you don’t know what that is- every day, you pick a player who you think will get you a lot of PRA (Points+Rebounds+Assists). I picked Al because he always does really well against PHX.
Even this year, I guess
In game 3 this year, Jefferson put up 21 points on Phoenix. Given your flat numbers model, without any shooting percentages or anything, that’s not a horrible bet.
(He shot only 9 for 23 that night, though, and his 8 boards were in keeping with his weak legs so far.)
"It has come to the editor’s attention that the Herald-Leader neglected to cover the civil rights movement. We regret the omission."
Well after some of the sadness in the Corey Brewer thread
I’m going to show some solidarity with our sorry lot.
I’ve taken the Wolves to beat the 9.5 pt spread today. I know you can do it pups!

Who are the announcers?
Rejected from the clown program at the PCC?
Because there are no fours.

Oh god
did the guy just say ‘…the Griz….uh, the Wolves…’? Ouch. We’re gdttin blown out every night, but we are not the Grizz. Thankfully.
Because there are no fours.
Toine
Jonny, Jonny, Jonny
If you hit a couple you get a heat check for free. You airball a couple you facilitate or sit.
Because there are no fours.
Toine
Lazy
Are we really going to be subjected to opposition announcers talking about how stupid the Wolves were to take 14 PGs in the draft? And how stupid were we to draft Rubiio? Seriously, he’s like 14 years old and signed a 37 year contract and is totally never playing for the Wolves.
Every dang game some idiot parrots that. Come on.
Because there are no fours.
Toine
Ouch
“We need somebody like Brandon Roy”
but, the Love trade was a good move.
Because there are no fours.
Toine
yeah...
…that kind of sucked.

How is it possible..
..for elite athletes to throw the ball at the basket 21 times and launch 4 airballs? Our airball percentage is not too far below our make percentage.
Because there are no fours.

Does anybody have a working stream?
I can’t wait to see Sideshow Bob have a career game against us.
Because there are no fours.

Corey evening out his averages from last game
Maybe he’s just waiting to hit all his second half shots….
Uh….well, maybe…
So, any glimmer of hope for us whatsover?

None
Our new GM, The Kahnman, has created a roster that should challenge for the NBA record for fewest wins in a season.
The only positive thing tonight is that it was not my turn to have the tickets. So, I am doing what any sane person would do – I am switching to the Gophers.
Hahahahahahahahahaha
I think it’s safe to say the Wolves are the worst team in the NBA. Thank god this isn’t on TV, the Thunder-Bucks game is sooooo much more exciting. Tons of young STUDS on these two teams that are fun to watch.
What?
You enjoy watching the Wolves this season? I have been to 3 games and watched all the games that were actually on TV. I’m a HUGE fan of the NBA and can’t say I enjoy watching our shittastic team one bit. Sorry, it’s the truth.

Oh, and we are down 30 and shooting 30%
If you are still watching a chopping feed on your computer, I suggest you turn to ESPN.

Oddly, we're not even the worst team of the night
Blazers are getting their asses kicked by the Grizzlies right now
I'll trade our team for theirs
every night of the year.

So would I
But that doesn’t change the fact that it’s sad that a contending team is losing by almost 30 to Memphis
True I suppose.
Good teams are allowed a bad night every now and then. What’s our excuse for 15 straight bad games? Oh wait, we played the Celtics tough I guess. 14 out of our last 15 games have been horrendous or close to.

Scoring is nice, but just having "more assists than turnovers"
is not going to cut it as an above-average starting NBA PG. Never understand why Sessions doesn’t get more minutes and Flynn less.
by College Wolf on Nov 27, 2009 10:11 PM CST up reply actions
Because Flynn is the point guard of the future
Sessions might not even be here past February. It’s getting the right guy minutes he needs.
Starting Sessions wouldn’t win us any more games anyway, so what would be the point?
Ummmmm...
So that we don’t lose by 20+ every night? All these games are doing is driving away some of the few remaining fans left.
by College Wolf on Nov 27, 2009 10:17 PM CST up reply actions
We'd lose by 20 even with Sessions starting
He’s just as limited by the triangle as Flynn is. We don’t have the talent to compete with any but the worst teams.
I don't agree, but oh well.
No point either of us getting too worked up about how bad the Wolves suck :-)

As a whole, Sessions hasn't been any better than Flynn
That’s all I’m saying. He has a history of incredible games, true, but that was with Skiles and the point guard system Milwaukee runs.
Same reason Jennings is doing so well, even though his talent level isn’t any higher than Flynn’s, Lawson’s, Collison’s, or Holiday’s.
From the games I've seen Sessions looks like a MUCH better PG than Flynn.

use a double standard much?
when flynn scores well everyone says how great he is. sessions is 10-12 (1 miss was a buzzer beater try) for 23 points and now you’re saying he doesn’t have any assists.
Flynn has 5 assists and 4 turnovers…it’d be better if he had 0 assists and 0 turnovers.
Point guards distribute
Sessions has been more of a shooting guard tonight.
The point though is that the reason Flynn starts is because he’s the guy the team is invested it. If we were worried about scoring more points and selling more tickets, we might as well sign Allen Iverson.
Seriously
Sessions averages more assists per game than Flynn on fewer minutes. Then you play the 0 assist argument on the night he’s 10-12 from the field? Really?
No kidding.
What a joke. I thought you guys were better than that lol…

It is never his night
“How many layups has Brewer missed?”
All of them.
Because there are no fours.

Blazers getting beat 70-47 by Memphis at home
Someone go over to Blazers Edge and tell them we know how they feel.
Also, the problem with watching Memphis on LP is the ads for really awesome looking BBQ spots that I cannot go to.
The Blazers' point guard problem has caught up with them
They can’t decide on Blake or Miller, Miller is upset they’d even consider starting Blake over him, and as a result, the team has no leadership.
It's sad to see how far ahead of us the Thunder have gotten in the same amount of rebuilding time
SMH McHale
Me neither
I railed on Wolves fans for three years on Zgoda’s blog about this. The instant McHale traded Roy for Foye and said Foye would be our point guard, I knew we were doomed.
