Tickets for KG Day
It's one of those can't miss nights at the Target Center if you're a basketball fan. KG is back in town. If you have a college ID, I should remind you that it is college night and you can get tickets for $15. You may have noticed that the team has placed an ad on the site. You can purchase tickets through that link or through the copy of it that I put in the title of this FanShot. KG should be at full strength tonight and you will get to see the best defense in the NBA. I know it's not something the Wolves would promote themselves, but the Boston defense held the Bobcats to under 60 points. You can use your own imagination to figure out the rest. This is one of those times where you can see the very best of something up close in person. It should be fun.

I can't stand KG or the Boston Celtics
So I’m going tonight with the futile goal of rooting the Wolves to victory.

piss off
I can’t stand you. Keep your anti-KG talk to yourself.

Seriously
Why hate KG? Didn’t he do enough for you? Not entertaining enough? Not successful enough in the playoffs? How about all the other playoff appearances we’ve had without KG? Don’t like that he got traded to Boston? Sorry, that’s not KG’s fault. Don’t like his huge contract? Sorry, that’s not KG’s fault. Don’t like that he won a championship with Ray Allen but not here? Sorry, not KG’s fault.
It’s like all the Green Bay people who now ‘hate’ Favre. Give it up. The guy put Green Bay on the map, and gave them everything he had every Sunday for 16 years. Same with KG. No, we didn’t do well in the playoffs, but KG gave us everything he had every night he was on the floor. If you have no love for that, then I’m sorry for you.
"Come on Eddie, let's get serious."

I don't dislike Garnett for any of those reasons above
Let me say that I think he’s one of the best players to ever play the game and deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. I respect his game and think he’s also a great humanitarian off of the court.
The reason I don’t like KG or the Celtics – as basketball players, I’m not judging them as people – is because they have very little class on the court. I don’t like watching KG get on all fours and bark like a dog at another player. I don’t like watching KG clap in Jose Calderon’s face for no reason other than to piss him off. I don’t like watching Rondo clothesline Brad Miller or watching Paul Pierce’s wheelchair incident from the playoffs.
I realize that KG is almost a divine figure in Minnesota basketball lore, but that doesn’t mean I have to like or respect the guy as a basketball player. Sorry if that makes you upset.

Agree to an extent...
I think KG is great and am happy that he finally achieved the ultimate success. It was hard not to tear up a bit when he won the championshop.
Since then though, I see the Celtics kind of villians/a team I like to root against, for the reasons you stated above (ie- their antics and attitude), as well as their obnoxious and fair-weather fans. (Part of this may be my anti- Boston sports/M*sshole bias, which I recognize).
The most annoying thing about KG coming to town though is having so many fans actively and enthusiastically rooting against the Wolves. Especially because you know they’ll be right back on the Wolves bandwagon once we have a winning season.
We’re toast tonight though.

Fair weather fans?
My impression is that Boston’s core fans stuck it out through a long, long fallow stretch. They’re certainly among the most well-informed NBA fans.
I don’t much like the trash talking style, and KG in particular bothered that me at least from the time of one of our series against the Spurs. (The contrast with Duncan, who absolutely embodies class, was striking.)
Let’s just call it a rivalry, and not hatred. We take it harder ‘cause we’re losing so danged much…. ;-)

Well, the trash talking is generally a matter of indifference to me
but I had to respond to your Tim Duncan remark. I have no idea how he has maintained his reputation like this. Outside of Rasheed Wallace, I’m not sure there’s a player in the NBA who whines more to the officials than Tim Duncan. It’s embarrassing.

TimAllen
No need to apologize. All of your points are right on.
But Garnett isn’t alone in the classless behavior of Celtics. Rondo was recently heard trash-talking CP3 for not having a ring. If the two traded places, Boston would probably win 75 games, and New Orleans would be high in the lottery. I hate that kind of crap. And I hate the Celtics.

feigning overreaction
but really, that was an annoying comment on your part.
I am not fond of organized religion, but that doesn’t mean I walk into churches and take a piss on the floor.
You think maybe a site dedicated to the Timberwolves might have a few loyal KG fans? Show a little respect clown.

Anyone who read his comment...
… would notice that Tim Allen DID give KG due respect. And he simply gave personal reasons for not liking him. Name calling isn’t called for.

Timberwolves, meet Buzzsaw
This is one of those games where you just sort of slink your shoulders realizing we have zero chance. The Cavaliers will seem like a walk in the park compared to tonight’s team. The C’s have been killing it.

Specifically a defensive buzzsaw
Will we break 80 in this game? Is the current Wolves’ triangle as well-put-together as Charlotte’s more stable situation?
Flynn and Sessions have their work cut out.

Plus, we can't rebound...
It’s going to be ugly. Cover your eyes!
(Man, things will be better when Kevin Love gets back.)
Pining for a Troy Hudson/Marko Jaric backcourt.

I agree, this game will be hard on the offensive end. But that being said, as much as we railed on Brewer and his poor shooting, I think he has the best opportunity to get open looks against this Celtic squad due to his off the ball movement and athleticism.
If this is the one game when Brewer shoots 50+% from the field I could see us cracking 90 points.
by Ebomb on Nov 4, 2009 1:21 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
1 game out of 5 cracked 90 points against the Celtics and I dont feel the Twolves have enough offense to do that. They need to post up Jefferson and hope they double-team.

I guess it would be fair to say
That while I’ll always remember and respect what KG did for the Wolves, it’s in the past. So I’ll be more interested in those men that continue to wear our colours.
No one person is bigger than the club he represents.

Curious
about tonight’s game. I’m afraid the Wolves will be slaughtered worse than a pack hunted by Sarah Palin in an aircraft.
But it will be interesting to see how Rambis prepares the team. Although their record many not reflect it, would it be correct to claim he’s doing a decent job coaching thus far (ok, anybody would be better than Witless). I haven’t been able to watch many games this year. If Flynn and Sessions can break down the Celtics vaunted defense the game may at least be interesting.

"But it will be interesting to see how Rambis prepares the team"
Hey K-Ram—In case you still haven’t had time to design a last-second inbounds play, I humbly submit this:
Directions: Print (preferably in color) and distribute to team during time out.

If only.

Could not watch the game but followed it online through the thread here and box score on Yahoo
Pretty good, I would say. Rambis has got to be doing something quite right, I would think. I retract the Palin hunting analogy.
