I have a feeling we will get destroyed..

With a matchup like Kevin Garnett vs Oleksiy Pecherov..Good God!

Thats a great matchup!

So is Shaq vs Spud Webb

Why isn’t Brewer on Pierce. Wouldn’t you think Gomes would have better luck on the less athletic Ray Allen?

by Boss10 on Nov 4, 2009 7:15 PM CST reply actions

Wow Brewer made an athletic shot.

Jeez Anything can happen these days

wow

Pecherov had the most pathetic attempt at a putback I’ve ever seen, even though he got fouled. He barely got up on his tippy toes.

Big Al’s jumpshot was just a tinge after the buzzer, reversed on replay during the quarter break.

by Ebomb on Nov 4, 2009 7:37 PM CST up reply actions

Al’s shot clock buzzer beater didn’t… well, you know..

by Boss10 on Nov 4, 2009 7:38 PM CST reply actions

They look tired. Old team on the second of a back to back.

by Oceanary on Nov 4, 2009 7:40 PM CST up reply actions

BTW Yankees are up 2-0 on a Matsui homer.

by Boss10 on Nov 4, 2009 7:40 PM CST reply actions

Evil empire…. I was reading the Twins mailbag and they expect payroll to rise from the mid-65s to 85-90 million. Mostly to retain the current roster. We might climb into the top 20 in payroll!

by Boss10 on Nov 4, 2009 7:42 PM CST up reply actions

I read the same thing

Hopefully that’s a continuing trend with the payroll. Although I wouldn’t be entirely surprised if Nathan gets traded.

by bheidge on Nov 4, 2009 7:45 PM CST up reply actions

That would suck to face Nathan in pinstripes in the ALCS.after Rivera retires…

by Boss10 on Nov 4, 2009 7:46 PM CST up reply actions

Man, I love Ryan Hollins

This guy can really be something when his mind catches up with his body

by Oceanary on Nov 4, 2009 7:41 PM CST reply actions

Shelden Williams was a good signing for them.

They’re deep, but he could play a role here.

by feral on Nov 4, 2009 7:42 PM CST reply actions

Perkins, KG, Sheed, and Big Baby all ahead of him. I suppose he should thank the fact that Big Baby likes to fight in his time outside of work.

by Ebomb on Nov 4, 2009 7:43 PM CST up reply actions

He’s a consumate role player. Ask him to rebound and defend and don’t ask him to score, and he’s golden.

by Oceanary on Nov 4, 2009 7:44 PM CST up reply actions

Now we see

his vaunted free throw form, and his vaunted forehead.

by feral on Nov 4, 2009 7:46 PM CST up reply actions

I get the feeling

That they wanted to add more size and athleticism to the frontcourt instead of another undersized, earthbound power post player. I like him too, but it’s possible they found him redundant and not worth the money (especially given his low ceiling).

by nja700 on Nov 4, 2009 7:48 PM CST up reply actions

"They" being the Wolves?

Yeah, that’s about right.

Goes to show you, though, you build a roster as a coherent group.

by feral on Nov 4, 2009 7:49 PM CST up reply actions

That's the biggest problem I've always had with our roster

Adding talent, but not a very coherent group yet in terms of ability, size, skill. We’re much like the Warriors in that we’re adding talent but it doesn’t quite fit or makes sense long-term. I really hope we have a plan and stick to it and deal with this roster accordingly.

by nja700 on Nov 4, 2009 7:55 PM CST up reply actions

Honestly I'm still surprised by Rambis's rotations

Despite a roster assembled on the fly over one summer with the four best players seemingly at two positions, everything Kurt R. puts out there seems to make sense.

by feral on Nov 4, 2009 7:57 PM CST up reply actions

Just imagine

What we can do when we accumulate more talent and a more cohesive group. We’ve got a while to figure out who we are and who we have, and once we get to where we want to be I think Rambis will look even better. The fact that he’s getting this much out of this weak of a team already is a great sign. It’s an admittedly small sample size, but still encouraging given this roster.

And he played decent D on Perkins, he just got beat.

Go read Hollinger’s and/or BB Pro’s take on Pecherov.

Who the hell is this guy we have?

by McCleak on Nov 4, 2009 7:58 PM CST reply actions

Basically

They both think he’s a project at best, with a low ceiling, and is shooting himself out of the league. They make him sound like a 11-12th man.

by McCleak on Nov 4, 2009 8:04 PM CST up reply actions

Well

He’s our best or second best shooter, and our best or second best rebounder so far. Don’t be me wrong, he’s got a lot of holes in his game, and the early could success could be small sample size problems. But if this guy was, say, a late 1st rounder rather than a trade throw-in, we’d be pretty damn pleased right now

by McCleak on Nov 4, 2009 8:15 PM CST up reply actions

Great half for the first unit.

Boy that’s tough when our second unit needs to match up with Marquis Daniels and Rasheed Wallace, though.

Hope Jefferson can continue hitting that jumper. He’s an impossible matchup if he can stick that and take his man down low.

by aarendsvark on Nov 4, 2009 8:08 PM CST up reply actions

Good times

Did you see he’s averaging 8.5 points a game, even less than last year? His transformation to Jason Kidd is almost complete.

by Rascal Flatts on Nov 4, 2009 8:08 PM CST up reply actions

I don't disagree,

except for the fact he’s one of the best 3-pt shooters on the planet. He should easily be giving them 12 – 15 ppg in an efficient manner.

by Rascal Flatts on Nov 4, 2009 8:12 PM CST up reply actions

Kidd is actually averaging

more 3PTM than Miller. Something went sideways with this dude a year or so ago.

Hyup

Donaghy isn’t making general observations, he’s naming names and giving specific examples. I think he’s just made the NBA look itself in the face — more than Canseco, even, with baseball.

If it all results in Joey Crawford leaving, I’ll be okay with that. I’ve never seen anything like Crawford ejecting Duncan for laughing on the bench, or calling the foul on Chauncey when it was Crawford himself who knocked the guy out.

seriously, they are probably one of the best teams in basketball and they are tied with one of the worst (or at least one of the most “in-development”) going into the fourth. WAY TO GO!

HOW THE FUCK DO YOU BLOW 3 FUCKING CALLS IN less than 7 FUCKING SECONDS!..The Wolves should have had more time on that final shot too..These Refs should be investigated by the League.

by TonyO on Nov 4, 2009 9:34 PM CST reply actions

Surely not for betting.

The Wolves more than made the spread on that game.

They should definitely be scrutinized. I think every game should get a complete review from the league office, with scores for the refs.

whether Flynn can become a playmaker?

by Dulluz on Nov 4, 2009 9:49 PM CST reply actions

HE HAS PLAYED 5 GAMES IN THE NBA

how about we wait until he’s played 100 games before we decide that for him, eh?

by davechisholm on Nov 4, 2009 9:54 PM CST up reply actions

No

I want to know now.

Haha jk, was just curious because the commentators on the stream I was watching were talking about him looking like a scorer. I don’t know much about his game, so I don’t know whether he has the skills to become a playmaker pg.

by Dulluz on Nov 4, 2009 9:57 PM CST up reply actions

His best attribute as of now is his ability to drive and score. But after 5 games, and with as much talent as he has, I think it would be ridiculous to say he won’t be one.

I think he’s going to be a stud.

by LoveTo on Nov 4, 2009 10:03 PM CST up reply actions

Well done guys.

Celtic fan here. I’m not here to rub it in guys, I’m here to tell you guys you deserved the win more than we did.

I don’t agree with your calling out the refs though, I think the calls weren’t correct.

The game was too close for words most of the time though. I survived about 12 heart attacks in that 4th quarter. You guys really impressed me. I do think our D was crap tonight, but seriously, impressive game.

Good luck out there guys.

by uncle rico on Nov 4, 2009 11:04 PM CST reply actions

The Boston media...I mean ESPN...has a different take on that last play

“But Garnett made two beautiful interior passes for layups earlier in the final period, then forced a jump ball with Corey Brewer on an amazing defensive play with 3.6 seconds to play to seal the win.”

Emphasis mine.

by TimAllen on Nov 4, 2009 11:28 PM CST reply actions

yeah seriously

since when is a bear hug an ‘amazing defensive play’?

by davechisholm on Nov 4, 2009 11:34 PM CST up reply actions

thanks to the magic...

…of the new and improved league pass, i can tell you for certain that this amazing defensive play included a large part of brewer’s elbow and forearm.
