by Rascal Flatts on Nov 6, 2009 8:33 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
OK...I'll give you a break...
I lived in Phoenix when they drafted Nash. I watched every Suns game. He was a turnover prone, non-shooting PG just like Jonny Flynn and RR are now. And he was 21 at the time.

My favorite moment of the last week: My GF looking up at the TV during the Suns game and saying “that guy is a basketball player.” I then had the pleasure of not only explaining that not only was this ugly white dude from Canada a basketball player, but that he was a 2-time MVP who is awesomely entertaining.

Even the Bulls kind of stood there
for a split second afterward, until they realized that LBJ wasn’t going to get the call. The ball went out of bounds, and the refs could have split the baby and given the Cavs the ball with .2 seconds left. But they reviewed it for what seemed like 2 1/2 hours, and ruled LBJ touched it last. So Bulls ball, and they won.

I'll never understand Wolves fans obsession with Aldrich
Is it because he’s from Minnesota? Because no one watched any college games except the final four? There are big men who have a lot more to offer and fit much better with the team than Aldrich. Cole is just a 7 foot version of Love….nothing he really offers that we don’t already have.
If we want to gun for someone in the draft, it should be Derrick Favors or Evan Turner.
by Oceanary on Nov 6, 2009 10:12 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
A 7 ft version of Love sounds awesome!
intelligence, awareness, elite rebounding, passing, I think you have defined the obsession with Aldrich, if he’s a 7 foot Love.
by timmuggs on Nov 6, 2009 10:14 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
It's only awesome if we trade Love or Jefferson first
Because just having two of those players is already incredibly redundant. Having three of them? Pure overkill.
Plus, it’d be nice to have at least one big man who can really run the floor…
Chris Bosh, anyone?
by Oceanary on Nov 6, 2009 10:16 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
A seven foot version of Love would be perfect
As to the obsession, I think it is pretty simple. Wolves have been in existence since 1989. If George Mikan had come out of retirement to play one game for that team he might be the best center in Wolves history.
by Rumblebee on Nov 6, 2009 10:16 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Similar doubts
I’m done being fixated over specific players in the draft in November of the previous year. Derrick Rose, Ricky Blonde…. Things happen or they don’t.
"It has come to the editor’s attention that the Herald-Leader neglected to cover the civil rights movement. We regret the omission."
by feral on Nov 7, 2009 8:14 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
I don’t have an obsession by any means as I’d rather have Evan Turner, but Aldrich will be very solid. He’s very coordinated and decently athletic for a guy with that size and length. Solid rebounder, good shot-blocker and he has a decent all-around offensive game with some rudimentary post moves and the makings of a good jumper. He’d be the best true C the team’s ever had the second he stepped on the floor.
I wouldn’t take him over Turner, but if the other good choices are off the board I think it’s good to know there’s another guy who’d be a great fit out there. It just makes the draft deeper.
When I get sad, I stop being sad and be awesome instead. True story.
