Eye Opening Al Jefferson Stat

So it's 4 AM.  I've got an 8:00 AM final exam, and I crossed into all-nighter territory several hours ago.  I really only need an hour or two of studying, so I figured I'd kill some time over on the RealGM General Basketball boards.  I stumbled upon a thread claiming that big men's high scoring efficiency should be taken with a grain of salt, since so many of their points are dunks, layups, and gimmes set up by guards.  The poster asked for a list of which big men actually create the highest proportion of their own offense.  Well, we looked up the stats, and I think you know what's coming...

Lets check the leader boards of the NBA big men most likely to create a lot of offense without the help of an assist. In order of the percentage of shots assisted:

Does anybody get less help than Al Jefferson?  Not only does he get set up way less than any big man in the NBA, but he has to create his own offense with no one capable of spacing the floor to keep doubles off of him or converting his kickouts into assists. And then people want to complain about a few measly points of TS% and call him a chucker?

I don't claim to be able to predict the future, but it stands to reason that if Jefferson can produce offense at a ~.500 TS% when almost two thirds of it is entirely of his own creation, given better teammates, the extra couple of dunks and layups created for him each game would be a major boost to his scoring efficiency.  Give up a couple isolation possessions to your improved teammates, get a few back in the form of high percentage assisted looks, and suddenly you're an efficient scorer.  He'd probably get a lot more assists simply by virtue of passing out to willing and capable scorers, rather than people who will look to swing the ball or repost it to avoid shooting.  Now I, like everyone else, have participated in the occasional Al Jefferson trade scenario from time to time, but it would certainly be interesting to see how people's perception of him would change if he were putting up 23/11/3 on ~.580 TS%.  It turns out he might not even need to change his game to do it, just the people around him!
