My Dream Offseason
This would be my ultimate dream offseason (a fan can dream right?):
1.) We trade Al Jefferson, the rights to Rubio, expiring contract of Brian Cardinal, and the #1 pick of the Hornets via Utah to the Miami Heat for Dwyane Wade (with a sign & trade contract extension)
2.) We trade the expiring contract of Blount to the Memphis Grizzlies in a sign & trade for Rudy Gay
3.) Draft with our own pick (assuming #2) Derrick Favors
4.) We ink Nikola Pekovic to a reasonable contract
5.) Draft B.P.A. with our other 1st round pick (approx #17) eg. Xavier Henry, Kalin Lucas, DeMarcus Cousins, etc...
6.) Fill in with the best cost efficient free agents possible to complete roster eg. defensive or 3 point specialists etc.
2010-2011 Starting Lineup:
PG: Flynn, Sessions
SG: Wade, Ellington
SF: Gay, Brewer
PF: Love, Favors
C: Pekovic, Hollins
Bench: Gomes, Draft Pick #17, & etc... free aents to be determined
What say you? Any other options I am missing? Any better scenarios?

We could get lucky and get the #1 overall pick
and take John Wall.
Flynn could explode later this season and he could become as valuable as rubio would be, allowing us to keep rubio and still get wade. (although there is now way the wolves could trade for him)
Yeah, if we trade him, it won't be in the offseason.
And why in the world would Memphis make that trade? I’m sure they could get a MUCH better offer.
Memphis is the team that made the Gasol trade! They already said they aren’t going to sign him for 10 million. Rudy already said he would’ve signed a contract if they offered him anything close to 10 million. Okay, so we may have to give something else but $8 million in cap space could help a team struggling as badly as ours financially. Who’s got the money to give for Rudy Gay? Who are we competing with for him?

"Offseason"
Includes the regular season for me – any move we can make involving the current roster during the regular season before the trade deadline, during the offseason, and through the draft is what I am calling the “offseason.” Let’s face it we are not going to be seeing the postseson anytime soon.

I would
rather send Jefferson to NJ for their #1. More picks!
WHy would we trade Jefferson
and then draft Favors? and sign Pekovic to boot?
Pekovic will have the same problems Al does as a centre and Favors is a 6’9" PF which I believe we have already.
Gaping holes on the wings. Gaping.
Judd: "...I've since watched some Steven Seagal movies and I realise that pressure points are no laughing matter.".
To get Wade!
I think Wade would help on the wing! I don’t believe Jefferson will be able to “run” with this team and Favors is an athletic forward that could run. I believe that Al is better suited to play center. I don’t think he can ever guard the more athletic power forwards in this league. We would have to give up our best asset to ever have a chance to get Wade. Who else would we draft – John Wall? Cole Adrich?

To be fair I suppose,
in this incredibly unlikely scenario presented, the wings would be well taken care of with Wade and Gay.
I agree- but
It is a dream! I realize that we will never get Wade but I believe that if Miami thought they were going to lose him that they would have to consider the offer! What else could we get for Jefferson, Rubio, & a #1 pick – that is a lot to offer anybody and should get back one hell of a player.

in the advent that Wade would leave
they would do this deal hands down. A top half first round pick plus a near all star and a top PG prospect for any player that is a guaranteed out is a fantastic deal. But Wade would have to come out and say I am gone. Otherwise the PR would be horrible for Miami.
I just don’t buy the Gay deal though. You would have to toss in a draft pick of some kind
