Meanwhile, Kevin Durant was everything Rose was not tonight. And, unfortunately, that’s been the story of the season more often than not for Durant. He’ll get his points, a game-high 28 tonight, but rarely have we seen him take over when needed like Rose did tonight.
Just wanted to acknowledge that the Thunder/Timberwolves divide is not as wide as I described the other night (Bulls 103, Thunder 96)

Durant isn't the one...
on that squad that I worry about. It’s Westbrook. He’s the guy that could eventually lead that team to contending status, as he has the tools to be an elite defender, playmaker, and scorer, and those are the three things that make for a “franchise” perimeter player. Durant on the other hand appears to be more of the Carmello Anthony/George Gervin pure scorer mold. Valuable indeed, but not the type of player that is the lead dog on a contender. Until Durant proves that he can step up his defense and make others around him better, I simply consider him an elite scorer in this league.
2 out of 3 ain't bad
While I think you’re right about Durant’s current weak defense, Green seems to have the ability to be an elite defender like Westbrook (although Green’s more of a 2/3/4 defender to Westbrook’s 1/2)

I’ve seen Durant take over games plenty of times in his short NBA career, and win games in the clutch with big shots. What an absurd thing to say about him.
I agree, it's hyperbole.
Perhaps I should’ve chosen a better quote.
The point remains, however, that the Thunder still have a ways to go (although as Hollinger said yesterday, OKC is 16-20 after starting 3-29)
