Great picture

Good trivia question (that I don’t know the answer to): Who are the other great Laker centers not shown in this picture?

And no, I don’t think Bynum counts. At least not yet.

Foye got benched?

Weird, but probably necessary.

by RCollin on Mar 6, 2009 9:43 PM CST reply actions

Yep

Hurt the Thigh in Practice playing with Kevin Love…Love also gave Mad dog a Shiner….

That's a good sign

Shows we’ve got an angry young man on our hands

Come on Bassy!

Jogging back watching Fish do what he does best – hit the transition 3! Bassy is better than that.

by CaliWolf on Mar 6, 2009 9:47 PM CST reply actions

They need to make this game close...

…because tomorrow is going to be ugly. B2B on the road, Love in his home state, Foye maybe out…it could be an all around mess.

If there was ever a time...

we need Mike Miller to extract the digit, this B2B is it.

by Auswolf on Mar 6, 2009 9:55 PM CST up reply actions

Amen, but..

..the Lakers have barely engaged in the game. We need to hope they stay that way and the Lakers bench doesn’t get a lead in the 2nd. I live in SoCal and have seen about 35 Lakers games this year. If they have a lead in the 2nd when the starters come back in they will go for the kill and try to bury us so they can take the 4th off.

And, yes, Miller just pulled a MIller – pump fake pitch to Bassy for a clanked 3. Its called basketball.

They're extra scrappy tonight

Is there a stat for "UN-ASSISTS"

Where you pass to someone with no chance of making a shot. Miller would lead the f-in league…

"I'm gonna make you cry...I'm gonna make you cry and dip my cookie in your tears!!!"

by mutleyil on Mar 6, 2009 10:11 PM CST reply actions

Love is smart, and not just for a rook..

he knew before the entry to miller that his man was going to double on the mismatch and he would dive. nice

by CaliWolf on Mar 6, 2009 10:18 PM CST reply actions

eventually...

..he’ll figure out that he doesn’t need to rush his close shots.

yeah, i saw a bunch of ucla games last year...

..and he really is a complete player. He definitely has, or will have, a Pau like jumper. It might end up being good for him playing the 5. When he gets back to the ‘little’ guys at the 4 hopefully he’ll have figured out how to get it up.

by CaliWolf on Mar 6, 2009 10:23 PM CST reply actions

THIS is crunch time for the Wolves

Kobe needs to miss a few or we’re done. Seen it all year. Kobe is going to go for the kill, right now.

Kobe out of control...

but he gets the call of course…

Free Shelden

Good chance to give him a prolonged run.

I might even get a T-shirt made.

by Auswolf on Mar 6, 2009 10:32 PM CST reply actions

OK...

but it has to say “FREE MR. CANDACE PARKER!”

"I'm gonna make you cry...I'm gonna make you cry and dip my cookie in your tears!!!"

by mutleyil on Mar 6, 2009 10:35 PM CST up reply actions

Ha Ha...

Candace will be the breadwinner in their household very shortly……

Shelden’s day will comprise of

1. Cookin
2. Cleanin
3. Being abused by his wife in one-on-one.

by Auswolf on Mar 6, 2009 10:38 PM CST up reply actions

nice

I don’t know if Mr. Parker can cook….but clearly he can eat.

by CaliWolf on Mar 6, 2009 10:41 PM CST up reply actions

I just realized...

The Lakers probably have the 2 biggest douches in the NBA on their team…Sasha Vujacic and Luke Walton. Can’t stand either of those worthless pretty boys.

Did you see Simmons' mailbag today?

Classic Q&A from the Sports Guy mailbag

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/090306:

"Q: I thought you should know that I have discovered the male equivalent to Jennifer Love Hewitt - a guy that most women find attractive, but when guys hear any girl say it, they get seriously pissed off. Brace yourself … it’s Luke Walton. Go ahead, test the theory with your male and female friends, but I think you will find the same results.
-
Jacki, San Diego

SG: I can only tell you my reaction: Whaaaaaaaaaaat??? Luke Walton? Really? How can this be possible? THIS MAKES ME ANGRY!!!!!!!! I always pictured Luke, Sasha Vujacic and Vlad Radmanovic hanging outside some Sunset Strip club at 2:30 a.m. trying to convince three Albanian girls to come back to Walton’s beach house with them, while Vlad bums cigarettes off a homeless guy, and Sasha tells the girl who might like him that whatever happens, she’s not allowed to touch his hair. Now you’re telling me women like Luke Walton? I’m flabbergasted. My gast is flabbered. This can’t be true. You’re just trying to make me angry."

..telling the girl who night like him …she’s not allowed to touch his hair. giggle.

by CaliWolf on Mar 6, 2009 10:36 PM CST up reply actions

I love Bill Simmons...

hadn’t seen that yet but will check it out. The only thing he’s forgetting is that they will get busted for slipping Roofies to the 3 Albanian girls…Janikowski-style.

It's true!

My girlfriend comments on Luke’s hotness every time he appears on screen. I think it’s because he appears to wearing eye-liner. She’s got a thing for that emo look. He’s sort of an emo-jock.

by princelyfrank on Mar 6, 2009 11:17 PM CST up reply actions

I at least appreciate the effort tonight...

We are outclassed all over the court, but we’re trying. That’s better than I can say for the last few games.

"I'm gonna make you cry...I'm gonna make you cry and dip my cookie in your tears!!!"

Wow..

Love guarding Kobe on the wing…and Kobe tosses it into Pau with Collins on him in the post. Is there anything else that needs to be said to glue Jason’s butt to the pine for the rest of the season? Seriously.

by CaliWolf on Mar 6, 2009 11:02 PM CST reply actions

Sadly I don't agree...

We just can’t let Love play the 5…and Collins is as all we have to play the 5. At least he plays a little defense.

"I'm gonna make you cry...I'm gonna make you cry and dip my cookie in your tears!!!"

by mutleyil on Mar 6, 2009 11:07 PM CST up reply actions

he does play a little defense...

..very little. I don’t want to see Love at the 5 much either, But for somebody like Pau you can just beat on him with muscle. Smith can take Pau, seriously. Pau shrinks from the ball if somebody is just pounding on him. Collins is a big lump of nothing. Watching him lumber up and down the court, giving nothing on offense and not doing anything other than keeping Pau 6 feet from the basket is pointless. Seriously, Kobe has the ball on the wing, with his dribble. Kobe. And he dumped it down to Pau with Collins on his back. Seriously. There is a 99% chance Kobe either scores on a clear-out or dump off in that situation, and he chose to toss it in to Pau with Collins on his back.

by CaliWolf on Mar 6, 2009 11:16 PM CST up reply actions

Even the Lakers announcer just said...

And I quote, “MIller…WOW…he’s passing up some god looks!” Guys that see our team 4 times a year notice it.

"I'm gonna make you cry...I'm gonna make you cry and dip my cookie in your tears!!!"

by mutleyil on Mar 6, 2009 11:04 PM CST reply actions

yep..

…nice catch. They’re also giving all sorts of props to Love and Gomes for their hustle.

Kobe just helped Love get up after the rook busted ass for a couple ORebs. Not sure I have ever seen Kobe do anything like that.

Kobe...

…is aging like fine wine. He’s grown on me in the last 2 years. The way he handled the Big DNP/Baby at the All Star game was priceless.

no doubt

It is an interesting dynamic. Sasha just gave a little pat to Cardinal. It is interesting. Some sort of mix of pity and respect. The Lakers seem to feel sorry for the Wolves for being sucktastic, but respect that they are really busting ass tonight.

Says a lot...

that Ryan Gomes is now our defensive stopper. He is doing all he can against Kobe, but it’s just not him.

I am well aware of his weaknesses, but this is a game where we need Corey Brewer.

Mbenga on fire!

Why are we paying Collins and Mr. Parker when Mbenga and Pops are cheaper and better?

by CaliWolf on Mar 6, 2009 11:27 PM CST reply actions

McHale has the same look on his face...

that Wittman had in December. I don’t think there is any chance he comes back as coach. He’s made his money, he hates the travel, and even with Al it’s not happening next year.

"I'm gonna make you cry...I'm gonna make you cry and dip my cookie in your tears!!!"
