After yesterday's coin flips, here's how the draft pick situation shakes down (until the May 19 lottery):

Excellent; please mark these words if not already done so:
Thabeet will terribly disappoint in workouts and will be available at our nr 18 pick … but we will pass on him. How bout that.
Anyone else got the feeling those 2 nd rounders are of absolutely no value? I have no idea whatsoever what we’re gonna do with those. Stashing euro’s?

Hopefully
we can use them to move up in the draft. I can see at least a half dozen teams that might be interested in moveing down in the draft to aquire additional picks. Even if they are 2 rounders.

"Stashing Euro's" . . .
. . . should be:
A. The subtitle of the second round of the NBA draft
B. A method of hedging against a decline in the dollar
C. The title of my next techo-pop album
D. All of the above; n1

Agreed on the uselessness...
of those second round picks. It will be almost impossible to incorporate 3 rookies (the 1st rounders) into the rotation. It makes no sense to take a player who is available for next season with those late picks.
Players still in the League this year that were drafted #45 and lower in the recent past
There are fewer the further we go back, indicating that guys picked that low don’t really stick around often, but there’s inarguably some value in the last 25% of the draft.

to be fair...
Woods played several years in the league; Wright had a nice stretch during the 20-20 start in 06-07; and Rakocevic mainly is out of the league because he wants to play in Europe — DraftExpress had an article this year that asked the question, "Is Igor Rakocevic the best player in European basketball?

This years second round
i kind of like the idea of trading a pick but if the wolves stay where they are what do you think of these second round guys?
Diante Christmas, Jerel McNeal, Tyler Smith, Marcus Thornton, Josh Heytvelt
I think roster spots are more of a concern than the money, or the talent level. Thus, the only way I see us holding onto the 2nd rd picks is if we are stashing someone over seas. That is possible for a college player, but it is more likely for a euro. This is also a decent year for overseas 2nd rd players. Keep your eyes out for
Sergio Llull
Omri Casspi
Vladimir Dasic
Nando De Colo
Henk Norel
Jonas Jerebko
and at least 15 others I am simply too lazy to type.
Pat Mills might be willing to play down under for a couple years also, and as a 20 yr old he already has international experience at a young age.
If Pat Mills is available we’d be crazy to pass on him… no doubt.
