Greg Oden's playoff series
In six games against the Rockets, Oden had more rebounds than fouls in only two of the games. He had about as many total points as total fouls, helped only by the 15 points he scored during the blow-out first game. In four of the six games, his fouls exceeded his points.
He averaged a foul every 3.5 minutes, which was even worse than his season average of one foul every four minutes or so.
I understand that guarding Yao is no easy task, but wasn't Oden's forte supposed to be defense? Is there a precedent for a 21 year old oft-injured center improving his athleticism and skill enough to avoid fouling out in 24 minutes of play?
And if they had to do it over again, would Portland still pick Oden over Durant, especially in light of Aldridge and Pryz's development?
