Ugh, but silver lining?
I know I'm grasping at serious straws here, but anything helps after we were b*tch slapped by Portland again. Jerry Z just posted an article about Penn turning us down, and at the end he raises what could be perhaps the only silver lining out of all of this:
They also could start their search over again and entrust the June 25 draft to a scouting staff headed by Hoiberg that has been working on it all season already. They also could conceivably return to Lindsey or Pfund, which seems less likely.
Let us only hope that PG rethinks this and approaches Lindsey again, allowing for more control and more sweeping changes. Either that or he better be hoping to pull a Wilf and fly Hinkie here and not let him leave until a contract is signed.
Hopefully Hoiberg is awesome with personnel. We could use a lucky break more than once every 20 years (thank you KG).

How many times..
…has Portland f’ed with the Wolves now? Here’s a short list that I saw over at the TWolvesCentral forum:
-They hired McMilan away from SEA and left Casey to MIN
-They signed Hassell to an anchor of a contract (which MIN matched) right before the defensive rule changes rendered him utterly useless
-They got Roy for Foye which three years later looks like the steal of the decade
-They won the coin toss with MIN to get them Oden
-Now they let Taylor show his cards and retained their guy anyway.
I’m not sure abut the Nate hiring but the rest are good ones.

The Wolves didn't wait for McMillian...
They hired Casey before McMillian’s Sonics contract was up (and before he was hired by Portland). That one’s on the Wolves. You’re correct about the rest of the list.

Good call..
…I couldn’t remember the timing but it seemed off.

I was disappointed by that...
at the time. It seemed like they needed someone like that who could quickly make them a playoff team again. I also think that if it were him and not Casey who was off to the 20-20 start, they wouldn’t have fired him.

I'm blanking on the coin toss with Minny for Oden. The chance to move up in that draft lottery was thin for Portland
there was a tie between minny & portland. Portland won that toss and gave them the set of balls that included the winning number .. ie if minny had won it they would have gotten the set of numbers portland got .. and they would have won it…
Or did I completely misunderstand you and did you not ask something

coin flip
i could be wrong but i thought the coin flip doesnt improve the odds it only breaks the tie for after the order after the top 3 are picked
nope..
….it gives a set of numbers to the winning team. one set has 1 more combo than the other.

by winning the coin flip...
…portland won the set of numbers that contained the series that was drawn in the lotto.

Honestly
I’d prefer any of those 4 options before entertaining the idea of David Kahn again, or any other retread for that matter.
