Stephen Curry/Gerald Henderson workout with the Bobcats. As a quick aside, there is more athleticism at the 1:40 mark in this video than there was in all of the Tyreke Evans clip.

Wow, this is easily the most polarizing draft of recent memory. Every message board/blog I frequent has a different level of support for different prospects. There are the pro-Thabeet guys who think all the guard prospects suck, the pro-Evans guys who think Curry sucks, the pro-Curry guys who think evans sucks. I can’t wait for this draft, I have a feeling it’s going to be highly entertaining.

Doesn't the fact that...

no one is drolling over Harden because he’s the old standby almost make you think he might just be the guy.

by Pants_ on Jun 11, 2009 3:39 PM CDT up reply actions

Brandon Roy all over again...

I think Griffin, Rubio, Harden and Thabeet are Tier-1.

Since none will likely be there at 6, I’m warming to the idea of Curry. I’m skeptical that he’ll be an impact player, but his red flags are no worse than the other options, and his athleticism seems to be a little better than I realized.

If Harden falls to 6

I would hope that Kahn just takes him and counts himself lucky.

by princelyfrank on Jun 11, 2009 5:01 PM CDT up reply actions

Harden

Is now being projected 2nd overall to Memphis by DX. Don’t know what they do with the logjam at guard with Conley, Mayo and either Rubio or Harden. They really got hosed with PF being the only position with no value at #2 and PF being their biggest need. That being said, if they can’t get Rubio to commit and they are drafting at a position where they can’t pick a 4, why not go with Harden the safest choice at becoming a steady contributor over high bust factor thabeet.

by Ebomb on Jun 11, 2009 5:36 PM CDT up reply actions

The point of my rant being

No chance Harden falls to 6, IMHO

by Ebomb on Jun 11, 2009 5:37 PM CDT up reply actions

You're probably right.

That’s why we’d have to get lucky (and have somebody in front of us get pretty stupid) for him to fall to 6, where he would truly be a no-brainer.

Luckily, there haven’t been a lot of drafts in recent years where SOME team didn’t do something incredibly stupid. I just hope this year it isn’t us.

I actually really like Harden if I'm Memphis

He actually attacks the basket unlike Rudy Gay and OJ Mayo. Also if Memphis’ long-term goal is to have OJ Mayo play the point then a player like Harden can handle some ball-handling responsibilities so OJ can play some off the ball. They’re still weak inside but since their really isn’t a value their at 2- I see the logic here and I like it.

by Jose Cordoba on Jun 11, 2009 5:44 PM CDT up reply actions

I see the logic of Harden for Memphis as well.

I don’t have any insider knowledge, but it does seem like they see Mayo as a point and that Conley has slid down in the pecking order to become the new Kyle Lowry – a.k.a. trade bait.

by princelyfrank on Jun 11, 2009 6:58 PM CDT up reply actions

Agreed...

…as big of a Curry guy as I am, Harden has Evans’ length plus better shooting, efficiency, and athleticism. He’d be almost impossible to pass up if he fell to 6…which I don’t think he will. I think Memphis is going to throw a kink in the system by taking Hill or trading down to get him + a player. They can’t have 4 drafts in a row with perimeter guys. Hill + Gasol is a nice front court rotation that fits each other well. I don’t get why Hill is so highly regarded, but if he is the player many people think he is, then Memphis is a great fit for him next to Gasol.

I still say

they ought to make a standing offer of #6 + #18 (+ maybe a Brian Cardinal-sized contract) to move into the 2-4 range, so they can land either Harden or Rubio. Is that worth it for the teams ahead of them? I don’t know. Probably not. But I’d work Memphis hard. I think they’re sort of stuck.

But in all likelihood, I think Harden’s joining Durant and Westbrook in OKC.

by jianfu on Jun 11, 2009 6:58 PM CDT up reply actions

I can't see a team above them taking that sort of deal

The problem for the Wolves and trading up is that unless you’re willing to move Love, it’s probably impossible. I don’t see the opportunity to move up by using expiring contracts, except MAYBE with Washington, but is it worth it to move up 1 spot to take on a longer deal in exchange for one of the Wolves’ expirings? And even there, another team would probably offer more to get to that spot.

by Eric in Madison on Jun 11, 2009 9:02 PM CDT up reply actions

The Only Hope

I mentioned this in another thread is that one of the teams ahead of us values equally a player they can get at 6 to a player they can get at their own pick. This would reduce the value that they might seek- so a contract swap could make a deal possible.

by Jose Cordoba on Jun 11, 2009 9:35 PM CDT up reply actions

Yeah, if Harden’s their #1 guy, they probably need him to fall to 4th to have a chance to make a move. (Sac can probably get whatever non-Rubio PG they want at #6.) I still think it’s unlikely Harden falls to 4, but I’m crossing my fingers…

I’d be cool with Curry, though.

Is

Curry even working out for us?

by pmac. on Jun 11, 2009 5:24 PM CDT reply actions

I think we need this guy.

Steph Curry would fit perfectly on our roster. We need three point shooting, we need a point guard with high basketball IQ, and we need a leader/clutch performer.

Check, check, and check.
