More rumors about the Wolves going after Thabeet, and an idea for a lower-cost shot blocker

Courtesy of the rumor page at HoopsHype, an article from the Washington Times (yes, it's still in business) and the Wolves' efforts to get the 5th pick from the Wiz. Minnesota is "disparately" after Memphis' pick, presumably to get Rubio or Thabeet. The piece says Minnesota would have to give two top-six picks to Memphis to get it done, and is apparently offering some combo of Miller, Cardinal, Mad Dog, Foye, and the later picks (can we come up with a name to represent this a la carte of dreck?) to entice the Wiz into giving up their choice.

I'm all for those moves, as long the pick is for Rubio. Thabeet's another matter entirely. I think enough of us would be disappointed if We Got Thabeet at the sixth pick. Moving what's left of the Assets for him would be extremely disappointing.

Another item on the HoopsHype rumor page was almost as interesting, as the Clippers apparently had a deal to move Camby fall through. Miller for Camby would be a much more sensible way to get a short-term shot blocker, and some low-post help to allow AlJeff to come back at a reasonable pace. And since Camby is an expiring, the long-term cost of the trade is low (and could he even be moved to a playoff team at the deadline?). Then the Wolves could pick from the bevy of big men are available in next year's draft.

A final item of note on the page was that Harden has been sick (in the traditional sense, not in the way I hear all you young people use it when I'm trying to get you off my lawn), and turned his ankle. Consequently, he's had some horrible work-outs, which could cause some teams to reconsider him. I still think he would be a godsend at six for the Wolves, and would even take him ahead of Curry if Harden were available.
