Pre-Draft Open Thread 2.0
OK, the last thread was slowing down a bit with all the comments so we'll start a new one up. Is OKC demanding Al Jefferson for Ricky Rubio? Does Sam Presti think Kevin McHale is still working at 600 First Avenue? Has Michael Jackson just died?
Discuss.
We'll live blog the draft.

Yes. No. Yes.
Presti’s trying to be one smooth criminal.

Sam Presti:
1. He thinks Kahn is as dumb as McHale. Jury out
2. He can sense desperation.
3. He has overcooked the goose.
4. Jefferson is an ambit claim and we end up giving 5 & 6
Tonight Kahn can prove himself...
by being patient and not making a silly trade. If it takes a king’s ransom (i.e. jefferson or love) to move up, it’s not worth it. Let’s see who drops down to 5&6. Also, I’m reading rumors about the knicks dangling wilson chandler and the #8 for one of the wolves picks. Interesting…
I think Michael Jackson
once got in trouble for dangling his Wilson Chandler.
Too soon?

I don't know if I'm encouraged or worried
about the movie being shown on HBO Family while the draft is happening.

Jerry's Latest Tweet
Chad Ford’s latest mock gives Minn Harden, Flynn, but I don’t think Kahn values Harden that high.
I hope that means Flynn DeRozan isn’t our haul.
Michael Jackson loved West Ham football club
Sat in the terrace one day and heard their song
“I’m Forever blowing Bubbles…..”
Our draft room looks hungry and a bit overweight.

Not to mention very bald...
"I'm gonna make you cry...I'm gonna make you cry and dip my cookie in your tears!!!"
Yikes
Could we hit the gym a bit boys?

It's odd knowing that Screamin' A Smith is nowhere near the draft this year.
I’m already missing him… and the SAS Heckling Society. :(

I don't think so...EW
Apparently…Thunder are really high on Harden and are going to take him 3 and the Kings are going to take Evans over Rubio and with the Grizzlies taking Thabeet….If Rubio and Curry are their at 5 and 6..You can’t pass this up…
from Jerry Zgoda's Twitter....
Draftxpress reports talk of three-way deal: Minn gets Devin Harris, Mem gets 5 & 6, Nets gets Rubio and Rhino. Don’t get that. #timberwolves
Bilas namedrops Gretzky, I hit the mute button.
Why do my eyes require me to watch the picks happen, as opposed to reading them as they happen?

I would be shocked at this...
Presti leaving value on the table would be very odd….
"I'm gonna make you cry...I'm gonna make you cry and dip my cookie in your tears!!!"
I'll believe it when it happens.
I don’t buy it at all though.

too good to be true
Rubio/Curry for keeps or trade back for DeRozan and Chandler?
Without using any assets? That’s more than you can expect.

We take Rubio and do a Spanish jig...
Then take Curry and let the offers come flowing in…
Maybe move back into DeRozan / Henderson / T Willim territiory…
"I'm gonna make you cry...I'm gonna make you cry and dip my cookie in your tears!!!"
No way
Gotta keep Curry

I'm OK with that too...
but I’d bet we would look for a more tradtional SG.
"I'm gonna make you cry...I'm gonna make you cry and dip my cookie in your tears!!!"
He tried to make a trade and could not find a partner
The shock is Sac taking evans over Rubio.
wow, if we get Rubio I will be crazy
I'm sorry but...
Why does the team with the first pick take any time at all to make their decision?

Mark Jackson and JVG
It will be interesting to see how they comment on MN’s picks since they may be hoping to eventually be hired by Kahn and coach these kids.
Noooooo
L.A. took Blake Griffin

OKC selects...
James Harden
"I'm gonna make you cry...I'm gonna make you cry and dip my cookie in your tears!!!"
Now we'll see if SAC rumors were BS...
I bet they take Rubio…
"I'm gonna make you cry...I'm gonna make you cry and dip my cookie in your tears!!!"
If SAC takes Rubio...
that is absolutely the way to go…
"I'm gonna make you cry...I'm gonna make you cry and dip my cookie in your tears!!!"
I'm still worried about a Rubio/Curry backcourt
awfully small.
I agree… but if Sac takes Evans… we’d almost have to, then maynbe trade one of them

Gotta take Curry

SAC takes...
Tyreke Evans…
"I'm gonna make you cry...I'm gonna make you cry and dip my cookie in your tears!!!"
I am over the moon...
Rubio here we come…
"I'm gonna make you cry...I'm gonna make you cry and dip my cookie in your tears!!!"
Rubio and Curry please...
What they do well far overshadows their limitations as a tandem…
"I'm gonna make you cry...I'm gonna make you cry and dip my cookie in your tears!!!"
Have to draft Rubio and Curry
If for no other reason than to have assets to trade (to knicks)
Here it is...
We got the Rube!!!
"I'm gonna make you cry...I'm gonna make you cry and dip my cookie in your tears!!!"
Is everyone...
too bust partying to comment?
"I'm gonna make you cry...I'm gonna make you cry and dip my cookie in your tears!!!"
I was listening to Rubio...
he has a weird voice… this has to be CURRY!!!! Screw the New Yorkers

I'm betting...
they drafted Rubio for someone else.
Yikes....
I think I’m gonna be sick unless I hear about a trade…

Curry to the Warriors
Good… I did not want to see him in NY
by San Diego Viking on Jun 25, 2009 7:16 PM CDT reply actions
Kahn is a lawyer
Flynn was probably #1 on their board at 6 and never in a million years thought rubio would drop to 5. So, now Kahn can sit back and take call after call about who wants flynn, who wants rubio, what can you offer us…. I actually again really like the strategy here, maybe another team dangles someone amazing. Besides curry and flynn at #6, everyone else would have been a stretch…
Valid point and hope it works out that way
A Curry/Rubio backcourt would have been problematic too….too small.

BTW,
If we drafted Rubio, it would have been two PGs as well. At least with Curry, you know you could have traded him to Knicks for Chandler and probably DeRozan at #8.
It's destiny for the Wolves to make terrible decisions.
Passing on Stephen Curry will make the Brandon Roy trade look childish.
Granted they probably got the three best pg's in the draft...
… if you dont consider Curry a pg
