Blazersedge: I would imagine the Timberwolves saw you as a strong player development coach as well as someone that can really relate well to players. But what questions did they raise to you?
They're questioning my age. Being a first time head coach. That's natural. I haven't been a head coach. I am young. It's not anything I didn't think I wasn't going to hear. I knew I was going to hear those questions.

Some other candidates are also young and relatively inexperienced
Elston Turner’s probably around the same age as Monty.
Looking at a couple of interviews with Williams, one is immediately struck that he’s got that head coach presence. Sometime he’s going to hit someone the right way. I’m not sure what’s causing this interviewer to suggest he didn’t make the cut….

Monty was born in 1971
Elston was born in 1959
Like you, I believe that Williams does have that “presence”. Whether he has enough experience is really the issue.

I want Dwane Casey
I know it won’t happen but he’d be a fantastic coach.

Casey at Bat
Casey would be an excellent choice. i wonder what would be the bigger obstacle to the Casey T-wolves reunion: Casey not taking the job again after the team threw him under the bus or Glen Taylor not wanting to take the PR hit of hiring a guy he fired?
Can you imagine the national sports headlines? What is going on with the Twolves? Twolves hire someone they already fired! Dysfunctional franchise hires back coach they fired two years ago, etc.
Hiring Casey would certainly help in appeasing the basketball gods.

RE: basketball gods..
….indeed. not only will they have completely purged all remaining aspects of the foye/roy deal (the madsen 3 ball extravaganza being part of this) but they will have righted one of mchale’s biggest wrongs: scapegoating a guy who was getting the most out of a crappy team in order to bring in one of the worst head coaches in league history.
