That's right, folks. Consider this man the latest fan to join the David Kahn bandwagon. I admit that I was a little suspect when he was hired. He obviously wasn't the first choice, came off as a slimy schmoozer, a greedy lawyer who bought and sold D-League franchises at a whim and was widely viewed as a desperation move by a franchise long bereft of any semblance of order and authority. Consider me a convert.
It seems that our beloved Wolves have been on the Four Letter ticker at least once a week. We've been making moves like it's going out of style. From the onset of Kahn being named head honcho of the organization, we've seen the former VP and head coach systematically ousted, the majority of his "guys", from Foye and Miller, to Telfair, Rhino and Madsen get shipped out like a bag of doughnuts, the guard position get completely overhauled, future draft picks get acquired, and the salary cap and roster become even more flexible. I'm convinced.
After watching Foye fart around on the basketball court for 4 years, it was definitely time for the Brandon Roy comparisons to get shoved out the door like an ugly stepchild. Check. We were forced to watch the normally slick-shooting Mike Miller serve us turd sandwiches for a season, and Kahn knew he had to dissapear like a fart in the wind. Check. Ricky Rubio was a prize to be won in this draft, but Kahn had to withstand the desire to move too many pieces to get him. Check. Flynn? Pass, for now. After drafting a pleathura of PG's, it was probably time to let the interest in Telfair bring something of value at a need position back. Check. Extra draft picks for next year? Check. More expiring contracts for the trade deadline and next summer? Check.
If for no other reason, David Kahn has rejuvenized interest in this long woebegoned franchise. Even casual fans are beginning to tune in again. We have possibly the most exciting PG(insert name here) to enter the league since Chris Paul? We have two bigs who pound the glass and can score? We have even more first round picks next year? We have roster and salary cap flexibility? People actually care about this team again? Yeah, I'm drinking the kool-aid. What about you?
