Here is a [video] of the freshest Flynn action from this years summer league. [It] gives us die hards somthing to look forward to for the 09-10 season.
Flynn looks solid in this highlight vid, even though it doens't show his turn overs, his speed and quickness are extremely impressive. He also attacks the rim like a champ. This is freshest twolves action..........get ur fix!

There's a good reason to get excited
I’m just so excited…..I really hope we just pulled a Chris Paul/Brandon Roy/Dwyane Wade with the Flynn pick.

Awesome
Thanks for posting. I know it’s Summer League, but he looks like he has the potential to be really dynamic.
2 things
1 sorry for hijacking Jocky Flubio. This is straight theft and I would be happy to relinquish the screen name if the creator requests. Couldn’t resist.
2 not sure who created this blog (SnP?) but I want to thank whoever puts the time into maintaining this site. Easily my most visited site over the past few weeks. Great work. Kudos.
A couple of things I would want to know
if you hadn’t picked up on it already:
1. SnP is awesome. So much so that I’m naming my first-born kid “Stop-n-Pop.” And she’s already six years old.
2. Wyn should also get a boxcar full of credit as well for how this thing runs, especially since sometimes SnP chooses to weird things like spend time with his wife and children instead of writing 1,200 word posts on Loren Woods’s history in Summer League. Also, Wyn’s super-creepy avatar is just that, and not a self-portrait. And don’t reference Hoops Hype’s salary database—he’s kind of touchy about that (mostly because he created a better, smarter one for the Wolves.
3. Many of us have an appreciation for MAYN HOL UP, so cut him some slack if he’s not of your kind. Also, we have no idea what “thowed” means.
4. LaMarcus Aldridge is the greatest human being to ever live. And in no universe would it be remotely just to trade Kevin Love and the sixth pick in this past draft for Greg Oden. So don’t even bring it up.
Feel free to use “jocky flubio”—it was a communal creation, brought about by the euphoria and the love and the good and the nice.

We still miss Peter W, Kudos to him too for helping get this thing up and running “way back”.

Wow...
…thanks for all the kind words. I’d also add that our site is powered by an always-entertaining and informative comments section and a rapidly growing fanpost section…i.e. our readers make it what it is. Keep in mind that all of this for a 24 win team. We hope the site continues to grow as the team becomes better. Finally, and in order to cover all my bases, LMA is a seventh level wizard and can smell colors.

Thowed:
1. something really good
(Godamn, that movie was so thowed.)
2. to get drunk
(Mayn, i really need to get thowed rite now )
Oh, well, in hindsight
the etymology is perfectly obvious.

MAYN HOL UP
Love the commentary. Can’t remember who suggested it but I’m all for a 2-5 minute commentary from MAYN HOL UP on every podcast.

I think I put that forward...
… but it was really on behalf of everyone here.
Mayn Hol up
Mayn, when I read your first post when i came to this site I cringed because I thought I was going to have to be ride or die and defend your right to an opnion – but to my suprise CH love you and even reads your posts, which my Northside even has problems decyphering sometimes. I love you attitude — even if I am on the Obama side of the English language. My man if you ever hit up a game next year – I am down to roll wit cha – feel me fam.
Not to protest love for this board….but this has to be the best blog for the Wolves and just homer fans in general. I don’t know about yall but my free time shouldn’t be spent reading how some white collar/blue collar neighbors don’t like each other because a “black man” is president or that you got beat up in school by a jock so all NBA players are young punks. i appreciate the information that gets popped out here and general discussion that is held. This board feels more like a community and a team than my previous 4 communities that I have lived in.
Terrell Brandon….Stop and Pop – keep it pumping.
Rubio is coming over this year…Flynn looks like a nice pick - GET A NICE COACH KAHN-a nice player and a star in the next calendar year and the Wolves are the new up and coming team that doesn’t have to impolde it’s roster as soon as the Blazers will..
Much love to everyone on the board
Danke...

Well, I’ve posted a couple times about my skepticism on Flynn. I’m not going to call him a great pick just yet. But there’re some things to like there, for sure (caveats that it is a highlight vid and we’re talking Summer League, here; Randy Foye destroyed the Summer League once upon a time…) Namely: his passing skills/vision look very solid and I really like how many times he gets down low, absorbs a hit, and stays elevated to finish the shot. If he can take that to the NBA, he’ll be fine.
Gee,
Do you think Garrett Siler enjoyed playing with Flynn? Good god, look at his FG% http://www.nba.com/summerleague2009/players/index.jsp?player=sl_garrett__siler
Granted, he doesn’t take a lot of shots, but I love the soft hands and strong finishes.
He did that in college too
Amazing fg%.

Flynn!
I love that this guy understands how to initiate contact with bigs. Fearless playing. I hope his passing holds up in regular season play.
Agreed...
….he sure knows how to create contact to his advantage. He’s quick to jump into bigger players.

On Flynnn
I have to admit that I developed a mancrush on him during the Big East Tourney. The umpteen overtime game in which he basically took over had me sold. The kid is a gamer, pure and simple.
Stature aside, he is the kind of leader teams look to in big games. Doesn’t shy away from the big shot, willing to take the beating in the lane and draw the foul, and genuine game changer. After Rubio fell, I was a little suspect, but since having more time to pour over the game tapes and rack my brain, I can see a mini-DWade in the making.
Yes, he is more of a PG at the moment, but he can drain the trey and get into the lane. Can we honestly say that his penchant for ball-handling can’t diminish when teamed up with a ball-master like Rubio? Can’t Flynn turn into a lilliputianesque Wade in a few years? Does his play not bring forth memories reminiscent of the Miami SG? I say give it time.
I like this kid, maybe more than I like Rubio at the moment(of course, that enthusiasm will probably change the day Rubio is announced as coming to the Wolves). Either way, there is no doubt in my mind that Flynn is one of the top talents in this past draft, and having somebody like him can only bolster the roster for the future.
What in the bloody hell does "thowed" mean?
I know it's sentimental thinking
But can you imagine if we’d have been able to pair Flynn with KG circa 2003-04? Talk about a perfect compliment.

When I watch this tape .. what I see is Bassy … BUT with the ability to hit shots, from range PLUS with the ability to finish at the rim with contact. Those were the two things Bassy lacked to grow from a so-so PG to a great one … so it’s looking really promising.
We got Rubio!
Plus, about another 25 lbs of
… fast twitch muscle fiber. Flynn can take contact and bounce back hard. Bassy, maybe not unless he’s got some previously undetected Allen Iverson chromosomes.
No 'D' in Summer League???
I appreciate the small things Flynn does (drawing contact by driving hard into the oppositions bigs, creating space out of a double team, seeing the floor and anticipating cutters)…but that video was more of a lowlight for Summer League defense than it was a highlight of Johnny Flynn. He’s definitely going to be an exciting player, just a little early for big name comparisons when that is the level of defense being played.
Looks like the “Flynn at #6” doubters may need to eat a little crow. Anyone doubt that we couldn’t trade Flynn for Curry+ or Derozan+ or any of the other “better” picks we could have made?
When you are as crappy as the Wolves, you draft BPA, and it looks like Kahn may have struck gold.
It's still early.
I’m thinking that Curry finds a way to improve upon his 37% shooting from SL. No way GS would give up on him yet.
And Derozan looked very good. He was efficient, more productive than expected, and still has as much raw potential as anyone. I highly doubt the Raptors would do Derozan for Flynn straight up.
One thing I love
About Jonny Flynn’s game is that he seems very decisive (although that could be a result of self-selecting process of clips in a highlight reel, although my guess is that with the sheer volume of clips it’s just part of his game). He doesn’t sit around and hold the ball much—he brings it up and within 1-2 seconds initiates something. He keeps the defense moving, keeps his guys moving. The Twolves last year had too many ’everyone’s just standing around watching’ moments on offense.

FYI
NBA-TV has 3 MN summer league game replays running back to back to back Friday morning beginning at 5 am.
Olympiakos
Heard at work that there was some chatter on KFAN about Olympiakos offering significant $$ to Rubio for a 1yr deal. Anyone know about this?
If it got him out of the buyout
I’m OK with that. He’d be our inside angle in recruiting Josh Childress to come play here.
