Maybe this means
His deal is reasonable. The Mavs have 14 guys under contract and probably are letting him walk because they’ve already got 16 guys under contract and are still looking to bring back James Singleton.

Sorry. Didn’t edit that very closely. They have 16 guys under contract without signing Singleton.

His per-40’s suggest that he can play.. let’s hope that’s the case! I like that we went after a complementary player, though. He should provide more balance to the team than Craig did and can basically be our version of the Birdman. Should be a nice transition and oop partner for Flubio too.
Jennings: F*** the Knicks, them n***** is always going to be weak.
Well, the Wolves got that athletic flyswatter they’ve been lacking.
He’ll be 25, so probably not much upside left in him. But he’ll probably make a serviceable enough backup big man, at least. That deal seems a little rich in a world where superior players like Hakim Warrick are signing for 1/$3 mil, but it’s not like it’s Marko-Jaric-crippling by any stretch.
Athletic big men mature late. Think Ben Wallace (I wish!). This contract will take him into his prime, if not just before peak.

Think of it this way
Is this guy at least 1/3rd as good as Varejao or 1/2 as good as Gortat? Yes. With that in mind, the deal is decent. I also think he’ll benefit from playing with at least one drive-and-dish PG and with two very good rebounders. He’s a good finisher who doesn’t need the ball a lot to score, and having a big guy like that will be useful.
Long-term, though, the main way he’d be a bargain would be by becoming a good interior defender and playing within the offense. He hasn’t proven to be an NBA rotation player for a good team, but it’s not out of the question.

I agree. He might be exactly what we need — a running center that can also be a defensive specialist. If he isn’t, he’s cheap enough to throw away and try again.

can i hear a poor man's Tyson Chandler??? =)
Just a thought.. now that we have Hollins… (ready the “in you face” posters)
Why not grab adam morrison too?? we do need shooters.. right?? plus it won’t be that much hard.. coz, he doesn’t have any playing time with the current Lakers roster.. if he’s still in contract with LA, trade for him trade songaila or maybe cardinal if they’ll accept.. plus 2nd round pick…
i’ve seen this 2 play together.. and they have a 1 -2 punch with their pick and roll plays.. you can check this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsdYoap5FYM&feature=related. They would be a great 2nd unit pair!!
I also do like the idea of getting shanon brown.. high energy, athletic, and definitely has talent.. he could be our current answer for the SG spot. (instead of trading for Q and Wilkins)..
Any speculation
on who has Kahn’s ear to advise on such a transaction? I can’t imagine Kahn, being removed from the NBA for some time, has enough intimate knowledge of bit players to make a decision like this on his own. I’d be curioius who is doing some of his analysis.
Just watched
the highlight video with the link posted by tuk…..first impression. Can’t create his own shot, too light to bang down low…..that’s about it. The kid is uber-athletic and can basically stand and dunk from the gimme-line. With a PG who can create shots for others, ala Rubio or Flynn, he actually has the potential to develop into a very athletic 5-man. Mind you, his highlight film from his time with the Bobcats was 4 minutes, and half of that was the same 5 plays, replayed over again. Either way, the kid has potential to be a solid change of pace, rotation guy. If he back up Jeff, and has to guard him every day in practice, who knows how his development could speed up? Athletically and talent-wise, he’s got it. Maybe he just needs some tick….
What in the bloody hell does "thowed" mean?
That’s good, though I’d hope it’s the case considering that they call him Erika for some reason. Always cracks me up even though I don’t know where it came from.

Ahh I should have known. I love Shaq.
Jennings: F*** the Knicks, them n***** is always going to be weak.
He is good on defense and useful off the bench. Just rail thin for a center.

Very nice.
Duncan not so able to push him around, so Big Al will be getting a work out in practice. Yes, this move acquisition makes them both better. His combination of soft hands and ability to sky and slam will be a better version of Garrett.
