Camp Invites?
Floating some names out there who could fill out the roster. If you know of guys on this list who were already invited to another camp, pass them along. In no particular order:
- Thomas Gardner, SG
- Sean Singletary, PG
- Jason Hart, PG
- Robert Swift, C
- Tyronn Lue, PG
- Bobby Jackson, PG
- Brevin Knight, PG
Here are some D-Leaguers who might be available:
- Dwayne Mitchell, G -- Averages about 8 FTAs/36 in the D-League but only 3.5 assists. Decent defender statistically.
- Blake Ahearn, PG -- Not young, either, but about 6 FTAs and 6 assists/36. 43% from behind the arc.
- Cedric Bozeman, PG -- About 5 FTAs and 5 assists/36. Has great size (6'6, 200).
- David Noel, SF -- TS% above 60%, 45% career 3 pt%, 17 pts, 5.5 rebs, 4.5 assists, and 1.7 steals/36. 6'6, 230.
- Bobby Jones, SF -- former Wolves 2nd rounder sent to Philly for a future 2nd, good defender statistically, 17 pts, 8 rebs, 1.5 steals, 6 FTAs/36
- Cheikh Samb, C -- another banger
The Wolves should also be looking out for guys in camp with other teams who get cut (Will Conroy, Garrett Siler, etc.)
UPDATE (from TWolvesBlog): the Wolves invited 6 to camp: Jack McClinton, Devin Green (summer leaguer), Alonzo Gee, Jared Reiner (former Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Bull), Jason Hart (Ex-Clipper/Nug/King/Jazz), and Mustafa Shakur (former AZ Wildcat)

I was sure I'd seen Sean Singletary had signed somewhere, but can't find it now.

Don't ask, don't tell.
This is Chopper Dave's made for TV movie, Blades Of Vengeance. See, he's a chopper pilot by day, but by night he fights crime as a werewolf... YEAH!

The Spurs released him after drafting him
So he could try to stick with another team.

Agreed
There is no way they don’t sign him for the min. Then they play Brewer/Pavlovic more at the 3, probably wilkins as well…unless they waive him too.

I would expect...
… to see a lot of Flynn-Ellington and Sessions-McClinton tandems. DX’s “Eddie House” comparison seems pretty apt (if optimistic), and if we can get him to sign some sort of minimum deal with a team option, we’d be doing pretty well for ourselves. Not a bad idea to pick up a shooter on the cheap that comes with interest from both San Antonio, which has a decent track record in second-round picks, and allegedly from Mike D’Antoni, who knows a few things about shooters in up-tempo systems. I don’t anticipate he’ll be a long-term piece here, but the price will probably be right to let him try to prove me wrong. Very well done, Kahn.

Thanks for the explanation in the FanShot
I was wondering how a drafted player could go to camp with another team before reading that.

Looking at these lists...
The Wolves might be best off keeping their roster at 12-13 unless there’s a 1st/2nd year guy they want to put in the D-League. My guess is that’s what they’re going to do in order to save $ at the back end of the roster. No matter what, they should be looking to add a 3rd PG and a big body who can give the biggest boys some resistance.

Nick Calathes??
I kid. I kid.
McClinton, picked 6 spots after Nick, seems like a solid invite. Basically a Flynn clone body-wise, but with more range and less PG ability. Of course, he’s more than a year older than Sessions, although that isn’t too much of a negative for what we want from him.

If he can just pop 3's
that’s all we really need from him. Him and Ellington both give us floor spacers. Whether either of them can do anything else at the NBA level is yet to be determined. But both should be able to knock down open 3-pt shots.
