Just got to Minnesota . Camp starts tomm . Everything happens for a reason. If one door closes another one opens. Time to get busy .
Free-agent rookie Jack McClinton, via Twitter. The San Antonio Spurs drafted McClinton 51st overall out of Miami in 2009, but released him before training camp at his request so he could look for a job with a team more likely to have room for him. It appears as though he's Minnesota-bound.

Not much to know on him
A Short SG whose best shot is his jumper. Hit 45.3% from 3 coming out of Miami (FL). Was tabbed for a late first round pick in the 09 draft but was picked late second round.According to DX – best case is Eddie House and worst case is Louis Bullock

Loved him on 30 Rock
Didn’t know he had a jump shot too!
From what I've heard..
The guy can flat-out score. He’s a bit Foye-esque, but as a situational backup that’s not a bad thing. I wouldn’t mind seeing him on the roster one bit.
I think...
… probably a much better shooter than Foye, and less court vision. We have the latter, not so much of the former. I think a Sessions-McClinton backcourt could work in some cases. Let me go on the record and say I hope I never see a Flynn-McClinton tandem as part of our rotation.
Who defends shooting guards?
Aren’t they both probably about 6’0" – 6’1"? That’s a lot of length to give up in the back court in the NBA. Sessions at least has a chance if McClinton takes the 1s on the defensive ends. That’s why I think Flynn-Ellington makes sense and why I think Sessions-McClinton could work: one shooter and one distributor on the floor at the same time, but at least one guy with sufficient length to stay with a shooting guard.
Sessions is 6’3, so he has the size to D up some 2 guards while possessing excellent PG capabilities. I think the thought is that McClinton has elite shooter potential (as opposed to Flynn) but zero PG abilities despite having a PG’s body, so it makes some sense to play him next to a big playmaker like Sessions.
Ideal? Nah, but this team is far from ideal so we may as well have some fun and try some different lineups.
Jennings: F*** the Knicks, them n***** is always going to be weak.
A guy with a situational skill set
Might be nice to have deep in the rotation but we have a real platoon developing back there.
I’d like to see us take a flyer on a young SF.

Just watched a YouTube highlight video of McClinton. Good Lord, he has range.

I’m excited about this, actually. I don’t think he’s ever going to be a starter or even necessarily a heavy rotation player, but I think if we give him a chance he could impress.
I like that Kahn continues to bring in talented, young players that have fallen through the cracks elsewhere because of other circumstances. At this stage, that’s how you play the rebuilding game. Draft well, and supplement your drafts with these kinds of moves (Hollins, Sessions, and now McClinton).
Yeah I like this. He’s a random 2nd rounder that we brought in late to camp, but even so he has what appears to be a definite NBA skill, and what more can you ask for given the circumstances? His ceiling is probably an instant-offense/floor-spreading bench player, but this team is going to need role players down the line and our bench was seriously depleted by losing Telfair/Smith. Solid move!

Wow, look at that release.
Flick. A pretty mature shooter. With NBA coaching he could be special. His escape dribble and penetration look slow and it doesn’t look like he can jump.
On the other hand, if he can defend bench/marginal starting guards and feed the post he could be Derek Fisher 2.0. He appears to be all the shooter Fisher was/is already. In and out with Al would like quite nice.

Nice Range
but agree with your comment about his jumping ability. He isn’t afraid to put it up…
