If the Wolves do in fact trade Al Jefferson as I've been promoting they do, it's hard to get around the fact that a future front court of Love and Pekovic desperately needs some help. A low minute big man could probably be added to the rotation via the draft, but the free agent market for Centers is also more promising than I first thought.
Brad Miller (probably a bad fit)
Shaq and Z (both seem likely to retire)
Kwame Brown (someone will give him a contract)
Marcus Camby (old, but the right kind of center)
Erik Damphier (he will almost certainly be traded and waived for cap reasons next year, and he seems like a decent fit)
Tyson Chandler (we could wait till 2011, right?)
Yao Ming (not at all likely)
Some of these guys aren't worth any price, but with the salary cap shrinking, the Wolves should be in a good position to add one of these guys for a 1 or 2 year deal that is no where near 8 figures. But a few of them would fit well with a Love/Pekovic back court - with a later draft pick developing behind them. If the Wolves can't get a young center like Gortat, I would be satisfied with a Damphier, Haywood or Camby. One of them will surely slip through the cracks.
