We know who Ryan Gomes is as a player. Decent/average in many facets, but not great in anything in particular. The contract has the buyout option for $1 million this summer (which also includes future buyout amounts). What say you as far as Ryan Gomes future with the Wolves?
Personally, given where the Wolves are in their rebuilding arc, I think Gomes is a necessary casualty. The buyout could help our cap number, but a trade seems to make much more sense. Gomes has some value as far as being a steady veteran with a favorable contract.
There was some chatter here about Gomes to Boston for expirings and a future protected first. I'd have interest in a deal like that. Additionally, I'd have some interest in shedding Hollins contract if that could be incorporated into a Gomes deal. I've seen enough from Hollins to know that he's not vital to a rebuild and could be easily replaced down the road.
Is Gomes, Hollins, and a 2nd rounder for Scalabrine, Giddens, Bill Walker and a protected first in 2011 or later a deal you have interest in? Would Boston have interest?
Or, any other proposals you might have?
