Ron
has a shrink located in every travel city. I’m sure his trip to Whole Foods was associated with his visit.
Breaking down cognitive dissonance and group think since gasoline was cheap.
I know you just meant it as a joke, so I'm not trying to be too hard on this
but its admirable that Artest has sought mental help for any issues he may have. I don’t think that people who seek out therapy should be the butt of jokes. We talk about character issues quite a bit in sports. Many athletes never seek help or won’t admit to it for fear of seeming weak. But its not weak. And its refreshing to see Artest – a guy who has made mistakes, but is clearly trying to be an upstanding citizen right now in at least some ways (donating his ring to charity, for example) – not be afraid to tout how therapy has helped him.
As someone who has personally benefited from therapy, I wish it was not looked down upon as much as it is.

I agree
People need to understand that mental health is very important to ones well being. I am glad he is out there promoting metal health issues.
I still think
that the real reason he was at Whole Foods was because of Jamba Juice. That stuff is good.
Discussing homerism since 2008!
Too preachy
Look, it was meant as humor, k? So you didn’t like it, I can’t control that. And, by my injecting some humor, it isn’t as if people (me) doesn’t understand that mental health is very important.
I’ve got an autistic daughter, so I know first hand about mental health.
But I’ve also learned to grow a thick hide. Sure in life there are going to be things I read that I don’t agree with, that I don’t find humor in, but it doesn’t automatically give me license to get preachy about it.

Maybe that's why my post started with
“I know you just meant this as a joke…”
No need to get all defensive. It wasn’t preaching. It was drawing attention to the fact that mental health is a taboo subject amongst many athletes (and amongst many males in general). And it shouldn’t be.
Did anyone see any Lakers in the Skyway today?
I have heard of many such sightings (ie- opposing players) on game days. Unfortunately, I work on the less desirable part of the skyway… I did see Tyson Chandler once (Hornets era…I think 06-07 season) in the US Bank building. Not as exciting as Ron-Ron.
