Wolves Updates 11/22
Wolves play at Oklahoma City tonight, Rambis says Flynn not ready to play and more
From Jerry Zgoda/Star Tribune:
Center Nikola Pekovic (sprained ankle) and swingman Martell Webster (back surgery) did not accompany the Wolves to Oklahoma City, but point guard Jonny Flynn did.
Pekovic did not participate in Sunday's practice. Webster participated in parts of practice at less than half-speed both Saturday and Sunday for the first time since he underwent back surgery.
"He's not anywhere near ready for contact," Rambis said.
When asked about Flynn, Rambis said, "He's making progress, but he's still not ready to play."
Previews of tonight's game at OKC:
From Charley Walters/Pioneer Press:
Michael Beasley scored a game-high 25 points for the Timberwolves in their Friday night home loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, who got five points from the guy who guarded him, Ron Artest.
But Artest wasn't impressed with Beasley.
"Beasley should watch (Miami star) LeBron James," Artest said. "Beasley's actually a better shooter than LeBron, but the smarts are not there. He's talking so much trash instead of worrying about the game. He needs to become a winner."
How's that?
"It's just the way you play, his awareness on the court; somebody should have told him," Artest said. "He should learn to pass, who to pass to, how to attack to make his teammates better. Then he'll be super tough.

While I agree with Artest...
…I can’t be the only one who finds it ironic that he’s picking on someone else for trash talking
Hello pot...
It’s not ironic if it’s expected. It’s more a case of the pot calling the kettle black.
David Stern just called and left a message.
Something about a fine you earned for talking about “pot.”

Go make another rap album Artest...
leave basketball to the people who care.
I'm still a Minnesotan at heart...
Is Beasley even trash talking?
The guy is… overflowing. That’s what’s happening. He sings on the court. He talks to his teammates.
I’ve seen Kevin Garnett play, a lot. Michael Beasley is talking talking talking, about trash or whatever else comes into his head.

That's awesome Artest said that
Beasley’s just getting his mojo back; phase 1 of his maturation back. Next he’ll learn what Ron said. I hope he gets the quote (no doubt he will), and uses it. Artest may be a little loco, but he speaks from the heart. Just to be compared with Lebron, shows how good he is.

Im impressed
Ron comparing Beas to Bron? I agree with him though that once Beas can get his teammates involved he will be a superstar. Go Wolves.

I thought Artest was a defensive stopper.....
Beasley drops 25 on him and Artest is the one talking?
But again,
we’re not the Celtics, SO we’re gonna kick the Thunders’ butt!
Me too
Then we can see just how ridiculous Westbrook is. If Durant sits I bet he drops 35/10/10.
Interviewer: Can you understand why teams value potential ahead of experience and accomplishment in the draft? Wes Johnson: "Yeah. I understand. It’s the youngness of everything – older guys like young women, so it’s the same way."
so you're saying
Kahn traded two 2nd round picks for a cocky shoot-first LeBron James with a jumper? I dig.
