My difinitive defense of David Kaaaaaaaahn, to one of my favorite bloggers.

My favorite NBA blogger, master chef, kitchen rehab expert extraordinaire, and founder of this fantastic blog, SnP.. got into it a little with me during the recent heart wrenching OKC loss, not to be confused with the heart wrenching CHA loss from a little over a week ago, or the heart wrenching SAS loss that just happened a few minutes ago. The game was good, and it was still close, when I came across the following... (FYI the three periods are so you keep on reading, here's a few more..............) ...........................

How the hell did Kahn try to make a running team and

end up with a TO prone running team that’s better than the Thunder in the half court?

I object to this, with full knowledge of SnP's obvious insight into the Wolves operation. I do not, repeat, DO NOT doubt him in that things are err, somewhat less than organized over there. I still think that, in almost any situation, the position of: "You are unqualified and doomed to fail, if you succeed in any capacity, you simply fell into it, you got lucky" is unfair and stubborn, it gives the doubter an easy out in any scenario, and the doubtee (probably not a word) can never really succeed, it is a stubborn thought process, almost by definition. David Kahn is not my dad, I don't care if he has his feelings hurt, he is paid very well to run a basketball team, but I am inclined to defend someone whom I feel is unfairly piled on. I realize he his a bit slimey, and he has about as much PR savvy as George W Bush, but he is not thaaaaat bad is he? Without getting into specifics: Mike Miller's expiring deal OR resigning Mike Miller + Randy Foye is not equal to the value of Ricky Rubio's rights. Darko was acquired for literally nothing, and the caveat that it was "all Rambis" is not fair to Kahn, as we are not privy to which moves of other GM's are driven by their coach/other staff. Beasley was quite clearly acquired for great value.Tolliver was a good sign, Ellington was probably a decent pick, and if Martell Webster is 75% of what he showed in the preseason, he is a better value than Luke Babbit.
His big misses: Flynn instead of Curry, which will most likely always be a mistake. I cannot defend this, I wanted Curry badly, and it looks horrible right now, but I haven't given up on Flynn yet, and while the difference between these two players will probably always hurt Kahn, it has a chance to look a bit better depending on Jonny's development. Curry currently is almost as bad at defense, and with a slimmer frame, less upside to improve on that end in my opinion. The Hollins and Sessions signings, and admission of wrongdoing one year later were bad, but neither player was ever in the big plan. I wanted DMC, and was REALLY annoyed with the selection of Wesley Johnson, but I've been impressed by WJ, his jumper looks great and is bound to start falling more like it did tonight, and I have seen him effectively guard positions 1-4. I would honestly turn down Evan Turner for Wes right now. He seems like a great teammate as well, and while that can be cliche and not really show up in the stats, makes a difference in this game (I believe that there is enough smoke in Sacramento to = fire in regards to our guy DMC). My point is that while Kahn does not deserve executive of the year, he does not deserve to be absolved of any credit during success and be the primary target during failure by my favorite blogger.
