More Fun With Spreadsheets
Here is another spreadsheet I put together with some stats comparing the rosters of this year's team (in blue), last year's squad (in white), and the 08/09 roster (in yellow). With this spreadsheet you can sort out the last 3 rosters to see which grouping had the players with the highest PER, OE, DE, Usage Rate, etc.
There are some interesting finds if you fool around with the groupings. For instance, this year's team only has 3 players in the top 20 of WS/48 for the past 3 rosters (Kevin Love, Luke Ridnour, and Anthony Tolliver). Michael Beasley has the highest UR of any Wolves player over the last 3 seasons. This year's squad has 7 of the top 20 DE scores of the past 3 years, and this number goes up even higher when you remove the Calvin Booths, Bobby Browns, and Alando Tuckers of the world (it also takes a hit when you remove Maurice Ager's numbers).
Anywho, I thought it would be an interesting conversation piece to weigh the relative worth of this year's roster compared to the past two seasons. I'll update it throughout the year and we can check in on it from time to time.

Bring back Calvin Booth
with the kick-ass WS/48!
amazing in the disparity in rank order if ranked by PER vs. WS/48.
Gomes > Beasley by WS/48
Beasley > gomes by PER
Advanced stats be damned, I’m taking Beasley every time.
I haven't written an insightful post in years.
Did my Cary Grant double-take from Arsenic and Old Lace on that Usage number
Yes, Michael Beasley truly is eating more possessions than Al Jefferson did in 08-09 when he was the absolutely clear first option on the roster and the clear standard bearer for the franchise.
Beas is also in rare company in terms of that 29%+ level of “usage,” in terms of the whole league.
The next 45+ times we post and re-post that discussion of how the Wolves need to find a pecking order, the answer should be that number. They already are playing like they have a crystal clear pecking order, offensively.
