Patience
I understand the reason for all of our immediate reactions and analysis of the Wolves. For one, it's fun, and it is what makes being a fan interesting. If you just watched games and accepted the outcomes then watching sports wouldn't offer much.
And I definitely understand that we have been sold the same line over and over for a long time. It makes it hard to be patient if we keep getting told to be patient season after season after season.
But I am going to try and help out the Wolves, and their front office, and everyone who can see where this team is going.
Patience. Everybody, please have patience.
This isn't like other years. This season we have so many brightspots, and so much talent. No longer are we cheering on a streak of games where Randy Foye scores 20 and makes a run in the fourth. And no longer do we have to consider Jefferson getting 2 blocks a moral victory.
We have very good players every where that you look. And please, have patience. We aren't winning yet because everyone on this team is on a brand new team. Almost everyone is in a brand new role. All that we know now is that we have a lot of talent, what we do not know is how high the ceiling of this team is.
So why, in the face of all our talent and youth, and learning, do so many people feel the need to react so quickly to everything that happens?
A bad shooting night for Beasley is a good thing. He will go back into the gym, work on getting to his spots, and driving to the basket more. It doesn't mean he will never be an elite player. We will have no idea if Beasley reaches his potential until at least 4 years from now.
Wes Johnson has all the talent in the world. He has one of the best shots in the league, plays great defense, and is an elite athlete. What exactly in that formula make anybody think he will not be a great player and borderline allstar in a few years?
Darko can't hit a shot, but he leads the league in blocks. That alone is worth 7 mil a year.
And we could easily go on. We have a defensive stopper in Brewer. A big time gap filler in Toliver, a low post scorer in Pek, and I guess we have Mr. Kevin Love too.
But maybe it comes down to winning. We aren't winning games. That makes it tougher to stay confident for sure. But what is the point of winning now anyways? Durant had his share of bad losing seasons. And if that is the team we want to emulate, then we better start there.
Why do we need to win now anyways? When Ron Artest was recently asked about his drop in stats he said, "so what, I'm not gonna be president with 5 rebounds."
Well, we aren't gonna be in the playoffs with 35 wins. Nor will we be NBA champs with 45 wins. So don't count 'em. Just look at the players, watch them try to develop, and enjoy the fun product we have and the incredible skill level our team offers.
But please have patience. This team needs seasons to develop, not games. We have too much talent to get panicky and trade some of our best players. Reading comments like 'we should trade Wes, or B-Easy, or pick up Iggy' are missplaced. We don't need to do any of those things. We just need to let this team brew.
Making a trade means you see where there is a weakness and you are trying to improve it. We have no idea what our weaknesses our right now. We have a starting PG and a SG coming into our rotation any day now. We have a potential star overseas, just try to relax and enjoy the development of our team.
I'll start worrying about the wins with you guys in a couple seasons.

What's frustrating is
seeing your team has a hole at a position (SG) and not seeing them try to shore it up. Our backcourt has been terrible.
Looking ahead
The roster will continue to change, with Rubio coming on board, and a new draft next year to add more players, so some guys we cheer for now will be gone next year. I see many more moves/trades in our future.
I think it will slow down though
Certainly Rambis sees more that he likes with this group than last year.

It already has slowed
Who thought we’d keep Koufous? Lazar doesn’t get much burn. We’ll soon have 4 PG’s on the roster. Change is coming.
Webster is going to be really good
You can mark that down.
A better shooter than Iggy
Less of an athlete, but still very athletic.
I'm a big fan of Webster
and I have faith he’ll be great with us. Who knows, maybe he’ll be even better than what we saw this preseason. That back was giving him problems for a long time. Now that he’s completely healthy, and barring any setbacks, he could be exactly what this team needs to help us win alot of these close games. After all, we should be undefeated, according to TimAllen. I have no doubt we’ll be much improved once Webster gets his legs under him.
Love your optimism, and hope you are right.
But you also have to be careful not to fall in love with your current players and/or assume that all of them are going to reach the potential you see in them.
Its a balance. If you have the option to get a young player that is a better fit and already playing at a high level, sometimes you have to let go a prospect and take the sure thing.
To assume that Wes, Beasley, Webster and Flynn are all going to pan out is dangerous thinking.
On the other hand
Holding onto talent until you determine if they are going to blossom or not, leads to absolutely destroying the trade value of the ones that don’t.
This type of thinking would have prevented us from trading Marshall for Googs.
