What lies ahead

Well, Canis Hoopsters, another week is upon us. For once, the pessimists were right last week. All those who voted 0-4, you win a prize. The 4-0 crowd, you need to see a specialist.

In last weeks poll, only 7% correctly predicted a fruitless week. Personally, I thought we'd win at least one. We certainly weren't facing a murderers row of BB talent. But injuries and carelessness with the ball continued to plague us, among many other things.

This weeks games begin on Monday, with a winnable game in my adopted town of Los Angeles against Blake Griffin and the Clips. We'd better take advantage of them while we still can, and win this game for our first road win in 12 tries. Game time is 9:30.

Then it's back home for a Wednesday matchup against Big Al Jefferson and the Utah Jazz. Big Al seems to have found a home, as he is filling in quite nicely as the replacement for Carlos Boozer, and plays a lot of minutes at Center. Does anyone give us a chance in this game? After all, we split with them last year, and we usually play Utah tough. There's always the 3% of eternal optimists out there that would say yes. The rest of us, no. Game time is at 6:00.

They then take 3 days off for Christmas break.

Finally, a Sunday night matchup at Cleveland gives us hope of not only a winning week, but a winning road record of 2-0. Cleveland absorbed that 129-95 thrashing in Minneapolis at the hands of the Wolves on Dec 4th. But we only beat the Clips at home by 2. Together, the Clippers and Cavs represent 33% of our win total this year, and hopefully that will continue. Playing on the road could throw a wrench into that line of thinking, though.

Could we sweep this week? Are the optimists out in full force, despite injuries to Milicic and Pekovic?
