Hoopus Night: Do you think you Kahn make it?
Awful puns end now.
As promised, I have some very exciting news to share regarding Hoopus Night (Saturday, April 3):
Timberwolves President David Kahn will be hosting a pre-game Q&A session for Hoopus Night attendees.
Too his credit, Kahn has done a lot of speaking engagements in an effort to communicate directly with fans. If you haven't been able to attend any of these events or want that special end-of-the-season perspective, you'll want to make sure you join us.
In order to attend, all you need to do is contact Suzie Hewitt at hewitt@timberwolves.com or 612.673.1297
Tickets are $35 and include a lower level seat in Section 121, an invitation to the pre-game talk with David Kahn, AND if you've got kids coming along they'll be able to hi-five players coming out of the tunnel. Not a shabby deal, if I do say so myself.
If you have any questions, talk to Suzie or myself (email or comments).
Stop-n-Pop and I hope to see you April 3rd against Miami.

$35 for lower level..that's cheap as hell
man the Wolves are hurtin for attendance…I will be there barring any weather issues.

Its not "cheap as hell"
it’s a unique opportunity for the Wolves organization to show its most passionate and intellectually-engaged fan base some appreciation for the time, attention, and energy that Canis Hoopers devote to the team.
Also, let’s just say that during the recent wildly-anticipated meeting with David Kahn, Mayn Holup was able to get the POBO to see blogs, the fans, basketball, and life through a different, uh, “state of mind.”

Then you must ask
Do you, or your staff, read CH?
by Cedarpenguin on Feb 1, 2010 8:30 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
And make sure not to ask
anything about specific players in the draft (or FA, trade). Because that will make us sound like morons when they have to tell us for the eighth time that he can’t answer those questions.

Lucky for Kahn this will be after the trade deadline.
I would totally be the condescending jerk that keeps throwing trade scenarios at him on the off chance that he hasn’t heard them.

Test
Well, CW now we can run a little experiment to see for how many people, all else equal, the value of the CH community exceeds $30.

I'm not saying it's not worth going to see people from the CH community...
Just that it’s not “cheap as hell.” That’s all.

with the caveat that CH itself is more of a draw at this point than the actual team.

Now I have to come home on a weekend… This sounds really cool!

Only the kids get to high-five the players?
It’s really no big deal, as I would just as soon give each player a “Brett Favre Butt Slap” as they head out to the floor.

I'll see if we can get into the locker room to sing them a round of Pants on the Ground

That's awesome
I wish I could go. I’d come with a bunch of questions and hope to sneak one in to the POBO.
If those of you who attend post something like “It was SO AWESOME. He told us pretty much exactly what is going to happen over the next year, and I’m totally pumped. By the way we agreed to post nothing about it” I might have to start posting disturbing jpegs to the game threads ;)

You raise an interesting point.
Being that it’s literally a blog being invited, do you think Kahn’s whole “please don’t blog about any thing we talk about here” stance will be in effect?
If so, then… damnit.

Question
As luck would have I live in Chicago and can’t make it home to MN. Can I send several representatives in my place? I can promise that they will represent (proudly?) the littleboxes clan. By representatives I mean my non-CH reading 14 year old nephew and his dad (my brother), who are huge Twolves fans but choose not to fritter way there time on blogs.
Anyway, not sure how CH feels about this type of thing as a community.
by littleboxes on Feb 1, 2010 11:31 AM CST reply actions 0 recs
Seriously?
I admire your sensitivity, but what’s the cut-off for fandom? Is Suzie going to have, like, a ten-question test to see how ingrained you are into the Canis Hoopus Community?
1. True or False: Kevin Love for Greg Oden is a fair trade for both teams
2. What’s Ricky Rubio’s brother’s name, and in theory, when could he be signed by the Wolves as a free agent?
3. In fifty words or less, what if any affect does Latrell Sprewell’s cap hold have on the Wolves’ salary cap situation in 2011?
4. When making Bi Bim Bap, at what step should the toasted sesame seeds be added?
5. Intrepret the phrase “Chiefin’ onna kill.”
6. Demonstrate how it’s possible for the Wolves to trade expiring contracts and Utah’s pick for LeBron James. Show your work.
7. The current state of the Wolves can be directly attributed to:
a. Kevin McHale’s less-than-strenuous scouting efforts
b. Retribution for Joe Smith’s secret contract arrangement
c. Karma for Mark Madsen’s three-point barrage during the peak of Tankapalooza
d. John Wall entering next year’s draft
8. According to Kevin Love Jefferson, the Timberwolves are:
a. Very good
b. Really good
c. Good and getting better
d. Awesome, if not for the tanking
9. What’s the best thing about the Wolves’ 2009-2010 season?
a. Kevin Love’s improvement
b. Corey Brewer’s improvement
c. Jonny Flynn’s improvement
d. The New Jersey Nets
10. If given the choice between getting some sleep, and arguing deep into the night about Cole Aldrich’s height measurement in socks, how much coffee would you drink before you finally gave up?

and one other question
In addition to not being a CH reader my brother is a pedophile. I hope that’s not a problem. When you see him at the game, be sure to tell him that you know his secret and that he shouldn’t give your kids any funny looks.

I don't LOL on Hoopus much
nor do I care for the term “LOL,” but when I do it, it’s a 90% chance that PD wrote it.
And littleboxes, of course they can come. They just have to create accounts, post 100 comments by April 3 and set up ad-click bots.

Good idea.
I’m going to write “Wyn” on mine, and then urinate without leaving my seat, make drunken requests for phone numbers from members of the dance squad, and yell misapplied ethnic slurs at the opposing team (“Hey Daequan Cook—YOU LOUSY SWEDE!!!!”).

The Muppet Movie
Is the movie of my childhood (or maybe The Sandlot). My parents recorded it on a tape in the late-80’s off of the TV, so there are some pretty phenomenal commercials during the breaks. The highlight was the Gilbert Godfried ad for chicken nuggets. He’s obviously far more tolerable when he doesn’t open his mouth.
Also: Muppet Babies. Underrated.
by nja700 on Feb 3, 2010 2:59 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Wholeheartedly agree about Muppet Babies.
Says something about a show when your voice actors include Fred from Scooby Doo, Mrs. Cleaver and Uncle Joey from Full House.
You were a daydreamer, a sass-mouth, and, not infrequently, a bit of a gigglepuss. Somehow I doubt twenty years of amphetamines and failure have done anything to improve that.

"John Denver and the Muppets: A Christmas Together"?
Perhaps you’re unaware that it’s available in sheet music. We do “The Peace Carol” at Christmas, around the piano. Yes, it’s a regular episode of The Waltons at my homestead, only nobody gets lost in the storm and then gets a couple of pads of paper for their big gift….
Jim Henson’s memorial service featured “When the River Meets the Sea.” One of his favorite songs.
