The chances Love and Jefferson are chosen for team USA...
…are pretty much zero, I would think. Durant for sure will be there, so that leaves two spots. I think one of them will go to Chauncey Billups to replace the “veteran leadership” of Kidd, and I’m guessing the other will go to a swingman with a shooting stroke….either Rudy Gay or Danny Granger.
They are among the top players in the NBA just being invited... only 27 players were invited. The team needs big men.
I think Jefferson or Love make the team.

I disagree
Love would be a great fit. He’s a perfect off-the-bench role player for that team. You need a hard-nosed rebounder? Call on Love. Need a big man who can pass or shoot 3’s? He’s great, especially with international rules.
Also, he was a hit at the camp last year: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/scott_howard-cooper/08/17/love/index.html
Ya, but is he going to make it over Billups or Rose?
Big men, especially the unathletic ones, don’t fit in well with Team USA right now. I mean, we’re talking about a team that’s at it’s best when it starts Melo at PF and brings Dwyane Wade off the bench.
Billups may be too old
and Rose’s game may not be suited for international play.

I think Billups might decline...
…but I don’t think he’s too old. I mean, the team was starting Jason Kidd in the last Olympics, and Billups would be pretty much the same age in the next Olypics that Kidd was in the last one.
I just think if they are going to add a point
then they would want it to be someone who could possibly do two olympics. I think Billups could only do one.

Ya, I was wondering about that too
FIBA ball is like NCAA ball….really really guard oriented. I’m surprised how many big men were named to the nationals team considering how little and how poorly Boozer played last time.
No Brandon Roy?
Was he born in another country or something?
Hmmm....
….I dunno. Good question….maybe he requested out because of his injuries this year? That’s a really good catch though.
It's the more or less chronic knee problems
he decided he shouldn’t play internationally.

Could be...
… but I read another article on Yahoo that said that Bynum and Rondo were among the only ones who declined. Hmmm… either way I would think Roy would want be seen as an elite player and play on the Olympic team.
