Darko...A Timberwolf???
From ESPN's Chad Ford...
The Timberwolves also inquired about a possible Darko Milicic-for-Brian Cardinal deal. The Knicks might be inclined to pull the trigger (it could save them some cash this year) depending on what happens with the Rockets and Celtics.
In my opinion, if the arrival Darko would mean less playing time for Ryan SucksAlot then I'm all for it! If it means less playing time for Kevin Love, Al Jefferson, or really anyone else...THEN BOOO!! Don't do it!
What do you guys think? Would you say this is the epitome of "modest in nature"?

He isn't playing in NY
Is he hurt, or do they just think he sucks that bad?
Even if he comes here, doubt he plays…I see Kahn paying a little bit of money for a second rounder written all over this one…
From what I remember
Darko has not enjoyed his time anywhere in the states. It would be an interesting move to get him to come here and enjoy his time here more than Detroit, LAC (however briefly), Memphis, or NY… Wouldn’t it be a nice international marketing scheme to get a guy who has literally hated everywhere he has gone and called them all liars to have a soft spot for MN? I think most of his dislike has stemmed from the lack of an opportunity to play. But he really hasn’t been a cancer anywhere, and I wouldn’t mind taking a half-season waiver on him at all. Still lots of upside left in him, even if he wont be here next year to acheive it. I do like the marketing angle though, MN needs positive light.
Wonder what the coaching staff thinks
Darko seems like a guy who could be productive with some better coaching. Maybe Laimbeer and Rambis see something there they think they could work with. Otherwise I’m not sure of the rational for it.
"Come on Eddie, let's get serious."
We would not be the first...
… second, or even third team to believe that we can change this guy around. There better be absolutely no stake being put in this guy, should this deal go through.
I hear ya
I guess after what this staff has done for Corey Brewer (and to a lesser extent with Al playing D a bit more) I actually think there might be a shot that it could happen. I mean usually when I hear something like that I think what you think – that’s what everyone says but nothing ever changes. If you would’ve told me at the beginning of the year that Brewer would be shooting over 40% on threes for more than a third of the season, I wouldn’t have believed you. It’s a gamble, one that I think ultimately comes down to how well he jells with the staff and the other players. If he likes it, then maybe he becomes something. If not, then what else are we going to get for Cardinal?

Question
I hear your point, and I think it’s a good one to keep in mind. Which player do you think has more basketball ability – Darko or Hollins?
"Come on Eddie, let's get serious."
Agreed. Milicic should be much more coachable
so I would expect the coaches to get some good results from their efforts with him. I’m just saying that it’s not a given that Milicic will now improve. He’s likely had a number of people in his ear about things over the years, and he is last only to Curry in minutes played in NY. There’s something going on here.
Hollins Pure and Simple!
To ask who’s better between Ryan Hollins and Darko is an easy question to answer, and the answer is Hollins! Why? Because as a seven footer, Ryan can out jump any Center in the NBA! All you have to do is look at his Dunk highlights and it will speak for itself.
Also, Ryan is just turning 25 years of age and up until now, he hasn’t played much. I have always said that if you play this young man “consistently”, he will gain more confidence in his game and thus become a great contributor! He is a good shot blocker, can shoot well from 12-15 feet out, and as already stated, he can jump out of the gym, and I will put him against any Center in the NBA, including Dwight Howard, and Ryan will out jump them hands down!

We give up nothing important for him
We get to test out a rotation that has a competent defensive big man in it (and yes, Darko is pretty solid when he gets regular burn)
We don’t make a salary commitment to him, so if it doesn’t work out, we still have all the money we were planning on having.
I agree. Why not?
Presumably the Knicks could throw in cash to cover the difference in salaries
It would cost the Twolves nothing, while the Knicks would get a small savings on their luxury tax bill.
2 years too late
Could have had the Darko/Marko era in Minnesota. This year’s Shelden Williams
Not bad
If we get darko straight up for cardinal, i would do it, just because there is no difference but you know like someone else said maybe he could find his game here. I would like to say that the Minnesota fanbase is #1
I think its funnny
that we are so freakin’ easy to please…lol. Are we really getting excited about Darko Milicic possibly becoming a Wolf? Have we no pride?
Im starting to think it may not be a straight up deal. I think the Knicks want to send us Darko and Jefferies for Cardinal and Sessions/gomes kind of deal, also giving us some cash compensation or a draft pick. Cause to be honest if the rumor for a swap of Cardinal for Darko comes up either its gonna happen quick or not at all.
I was thinking the last part too
you don’t sit and think about getting rid of Darko for money savings. And no one is going to up the offer for him.
I doubt Sessions though, we would need a PG worse than NY does after that.
Sheesh, this looks like the Washington Wizards blog trying to talk about
the advantages of acquiring Randy Foye. Face it guys, Darko is a bust. There are no more chances. He’s done in this league. I wish I were wrong, but I am not.
Darko is the next starting Center
He easily beats out Hollins.
Dear Darko,
This is your chance to start on a consistent basis. Please make the very most of it. Please!!!
Your new fans here in Minnesota
Laimbeer should know Darko well...
Laimbeer spent time in Detroit when Darko was there. Laimbeer was not playing or coaching, but he’s had pretty close ties to the Pistons, from what I gather.
So if Darko was worthless, Laimbeer would have said so. And if Laimbeer was positive on him, then they would go for the deal.
I’m going with Laimbeer’s gut on this one.
Welcome to Minnesota
I thought Cardinal was the most over paid player in the league, but after watching him the past couple of years he really gave it his all and probably earned every cent he made. Needless to say I’m happy we acquired Darko a 7’0 center 250lb center with potential and nine lives….
