And here's why - Right now there are 11 teams who have now or will have a significant need for a PF this summer.
There are 4 decent PF's available in Free Agency this summer (Bosh, Amare, Boozer, Lee) and 4 decent PF prospects in the draft (Favors, Cousins, Davis, Monroe). These 8 players will effectively satisfy the PF need of the 8 most desperate teams for at least a year. There are some other PF's in the draft that might fit the need at PF (Aminu, Patterson, a few others). At least one of these guys will hit.
Which means that this summer only 2 teams will be remotely interested in trading for a PF. Right now there are 11 teams with PF being an open question mark and team need.
And of course I'm in the camp that doesn't believe Al is a building block, retards the team's development and is redundant with Pekovic.
Kahn should make these 5 offers right now and accept the first that responds:
Indiana: Granger for AlJeff (highly unlikely)
Charlotte: Gerald Wallace (and filler) for AlJeff (somewhat unlikely)
NJ: Simmons expiring contract and NJ's 1st pick for AlJeff (unlikely)
Bulls: Noah + bad contract (salmons or Hinrich) for AlJeff (feasible)
Wash: Miller's expiring contract and Wash 1st pick for AlJeff (feasible)
If no one bites, there is a little time to get creative with other offers. But I can't see Al bringing back anything near this value in the Summer.
